Chapter 43 - The Gift He Gave Me

"Sorry, I'm going to rest!" I declared and got up abruptly, leaving the room.

I was a person, not a baby-making machine. Why should I be expected to have a child just because they wanted me to? Five years ago, I lost not only my education but also my sense of self when I became an unwed mother. Now, five years later, I wouldn't have a child out of wedlock again!

When Antoninus returned, I was still very angry. He questioned me, "Why are you so upset?"

I glared at him and snapped, "Because I don't want to have children with you anymore!"

Antoninus simply said, "Oh," and got into bed. His tone clearly showed his lack of concern.

As he settled onto the bed, I quickly placed Chris's pillow between us and said, "You sleep on that side, and I'll sleep on this side. No crossing the line!"

Antoninus looked puzzled for a moment and then his expression turned displeased, "That looks childish."
