It’s been a week since we came back to Theo ’s territory. He fell into a coma after the surgery. The doctors don’t know why he hasn’t woken up. I spend every day with him in the hospital. I talk to him a lot because they said it’d help. They said if we completed the mating process before it happened, I would’ve been able to enter his mind and wake him. It’s too bad the only thing Theo and I have done is kissed. I hear someone entering the kitchen. “Hello, dear?” Mom says. “Hi, Mom.” “How’s he doing?” “He’s the same.” “Don’t worry, he’ll wake up soon. Do you have time to spare before you go and see him?” “Yes, is there something you want to talk about or need?” “Yes, there is something I want to talk to you about.” “Alright, let me quickly wash this. “I’m cursed,” Theo says, once we’re sitting in our bedroom. “You’re cursed, with what?” “My mate will die if I mark her.” “What?” I say, shocked. “A witch cursed whoever my mate is to die once I mark her.” “Why?” “Because my mother killed her mate.” He must be talking about Leonardo’s mate “How did you find out you were cursed?” “You’re not my first mate.” He swallowed hard. “Oh, I’m not,” I say, surprised. Later at night, while sleeping, I feel Theo ’s hands fall from around my waist. I turn over to see him dressing and I wonder where he’s going this late. “Theo, is something wrong?” I ask, sitting up on the bed. “Yes, but don’t worry about it. Go back to sleep. I’ll be back soon,” he says and kisses my forehead before he walks out. What could be so wrong to make Theo leave the house this late at night? I don’t go back to sleep as he asked, waiting for him to come back instead. I hear someone wailing outside. Is someone crying? I rush to the window to see what’s going on. Theo and Dan are standing in front of a group of people. They look like they just came from a fight. Did something bad happen? I quickly change out of my sleeping clothes and walk downstairs to investigate. “Theo , what is going on?” I ask once I reach them outside There looks to be about fifty people here, all covered in blood. Their clothes have been ripped to pieces. What they have on is barely covering them.

In the next few days, I helped the new werewolves in Theo ’s territory settle in. I make sure they have everything they need. They’re mostly women and kids, so they’re still shaken from what they faced. Theo and I are traveling to the most recently attacked pack in his private jet. It’s the Silver Moon Pack. Theo wants to find out if anyone else survived. We’re going in his jet so it’ll be easier to move additional survivors. The place they came from is far from Theo ’s territory. I can’t imagine how long they walked to get to us. It must’ve been an exhausting journey. “What’re you thinking about?” Theo asks, lacing our fingers together. “I’m thinking about how far the women and children from the Silver Moon Pack walked,” I say, looking out the plane windows. “Here you go,” I say, handing a bottle of water to an injured werewolf. We’re at another pack that was attacked recently. This time the attack was worse because they came during day-time. Witches created a spell allowing non-Originals to walk in the sun. The witches also helped them to kill most of the pack. “Hello, Luna,” a voice I never wanted to hear says behind me. I turn around to see Scarlett standing behind me with a smirk on her face. “Hello, Scarlett,” I wonder what she’s doing here. “How are you, my Queen?” she asks, walking closer to me. “I’m doing okay considering the circumstances, and you?” “Same.” “What are you doing here?” “I came to help. I brought some supplies, and I also plan to take some of the displaced werewolves back with me. “Where did you put your clean clothes?” Theo asks as he steps out of the water. “I didn't bring any. I didn't plan to take a swim,” I say, standing beside him. “How did you plan to walk back to the packhouse?” he asks, arching his brows at me. “In your bloody clothes?” “I didn't think about that. I just wanted to get the dirty clothes and blood off me.” “It's fine. Raise your hands,” Theo says, and I do as he asks. He slides his T-shirt over my head. “Thank you,” I say, dropping my hands. “You're welcome. Let's go,” Theo says, when he’s done putting on his shorts. I start walking in front of him, but he pulls me back. “Not in front of me. Walk-behind me,” he says, pushing me behind him. “Why?” I ask, confused. “I need to block any unmated wolf from seeing your legs.” “Really? My legs?” I scoff. “Yes, your legs. Theo arrives a few minutes later with a few doctors and warriors. The doctors take care of the baby while the warriors help Vanessa to the hospital. Theo walks with me back to the packhouse so I can change my clothes and shower. Walking into the packhouse, I bump into Scarlett walking out. “Oh heavens, my Queen, are you injured?” Scarlett asks when she sees the blood on my shirt. She might sound concerned about me, but I know it’s fake. “I’m not injured. The blood isn’t mine.” “Thank goodness, I was worried something terrible happened to you. I started to wonder who would become our Queen then.” “It’s not that easy to get rid of me, Scarlett. Even if I die, you’ll never take my place.” “Don’t be too certain. “We’ll be leaving tomorrow,” Theo says as he gets under the covers as we’re heading to bed. “I can't wait to get back.
