Chapter 5: Feelings in the heart

Augustus looked at the wound on Sharmaine's neck, he had never felt so worried and thinking. For Augustus, his only memory was Sharmaine, when he woke up in the woods, under the trees. Sharmaine was the first one to appear and smile at Augustus. She gently grabbed his hand, giving him warmth.

It didn't matter how long or short, Augustus understood, he was not human, he was a vampire. The moment when he lusted after Sharmaine's blood, Augustus understood it all. Augustus sensed that this child's body was not his own.

"Sharmaine, you buy medical supplies, let me bandage your wound." Augustus looked at the wound he made on Sharmaine's neck with displeasure, he didn't want any damage on Sharmaine.

Sharmaine put her hand on her neck, she took out a bandage from her bag: "It's okay, I'm fine." Sharmaine is so used to being sucked blood, she does not feel pain until now.

Augustus frowned, the child was only about eight years old, but made the other person feel scared. That small body seemed to contain a wild animal.

"I said, you're not okay." Augustus didn't want to hear what Sharmaine said, he quickly took her hand and led her around to find the drug store.

Sharmaine looked at the small figure in front of her, her warm eyes filled with pain. She was hurt so much, she was afraid to receive warmth and care from others, even if that person was Augustus. Sharmaine smiled.

"Okay, I will listen to you." Sharmaine compromises. She will listen to Augustus, will listen to what he wants in the present. Their time is limited, Sharmaine doesn't want to waste it, she will be with him, will hide this love forever.

Augustus stood in front of the drug store, he remembered that he was just a child that Sharmaine took to take care of, he had no money. Augustus turned to look at Sharmaine.

Sharmaine understood Augustus's meaning, she took the money from her pocket and gave it to him: "Apparently you need this to be able to buy me things."

Augustus took the money. Augustus knew, he needed to be strong and get back to himself as quickly as possible. He wanted to protect Sharmaine.

"I'll pay you back later, what I give you will be more than this." Augustus affirmed. Even though Augustus's memories are completely gone now, that doesn't mean his keen sense has disappeared.

"I believe." Sharmaine nodded.

--

Under the tree, Augustus looked carefully at the wound on Sharmaine's neck, his eyes worried, Augustus tried to be as gentle as possible. He had never felt this before, the gentle scent of Sharmaine's body moved Augustus' mind. After all, when did he meet Sharmaine and why did he and she meet.

Sharmaine saw Augustus as careful and meticulous. She leaned her head against a tree, her long hair gently blowing in the wind, her face was extremely beautiful, her blue eyes showed a sad expression, her skin was as white as snow, each breath carried a strange charm. The immortal human has the beauty of time and knowledge. Sharmaine looks up at the blue sky, she remembers her past relatives, they all give Sharmaine motivation and inspiration. But Sharmaine does not belong to the human world, what she has to do is leave them.

“What are you thinking?” Augustus finished the treatment of Sharmaine's wound.

Sharmaine shook her head: "Thank you."

Augustus laughed: "Nothing."

Sharmaine reached out to touch Augustus's head, he had saved her from danger just now, perhaps he was in great pain at that time: "Augustus, when you saved me earlier, were you still in pain?"

Augustus shook his head: "I'm not human, it doesn't hurt."

Sharmaine pretended not to hear what Augustus said, she patted Augustus' head: "The human world has a kind of magic, when touched like this, all pain will be gone."

At that moment, Sharmaine was as gentle and beautiful as the moonlight, and Augustus was like a cold night. He smiled slowly, as Sharmaine touched him, using her warmth to protect him, perhaps no matter how much pain Augustus could bear. As long as Sharmaine is here.

"Sharmaine, have I met you?"

"Never." Sharmaine spoke up.

“No, I believe, I believe you and I have met before. Because I feel, you is very familiar, you don’t  make me wary or afraid. You make me feel safe.”

“Sharmaine, you know, I'm not human right? I am vampire." Augustus spoke up. When he felt a craving for Sharmaine's blood, he knew what race he himself belonged to. Even if the memory disappears, the bloodthirsty nature of a predator like a vampire doesn't disappear.

Sharmaine shook her head: "No, you're not a vampire, you're Augustus."

"Sharmaine, I don't have a clear memory, but I'm a vampire, I just don't understand how I can stand under the sun without a mutation."

Sharmaine clenched her fists, she knew vampires were extremely sensitive species. In any case, vampires understand themselves and their problems. Even though Augustus is currently losing his memories, that doesn't mean he doesn't know who he is.

"Until you're strong enough, leave the human world." Sharmaine stood up and left. Like it or not, Augustus would have to leave the human world, Sharmaine had their plan in place.

Augustus followed Sharmaine's back.

--

Sharmaine went to school the next day to teach as usual. She wears polite clothes, her hair is tied up, Sharmaine wears glasses to hide her beautiful eyes. Augustus at home, he sat in front of the television watching intellectual programs, his eyes focused.

“What do you want to eat tonight?”

Augustus turned to Sharmaine: "Do you really have to go?"

"Of course, if I don't go to school to teach, I won't have money to use for you and me." Sharmaine said, she moved closer to Augustus, her hand on his shoulder. This warm tenderness can make any man let go of his defenses.

"I'll be waiting for you." Augustus knew that Sharmaine had a job and a life of her own. Although he wanted to be with Sharmaine, Augustus also understood that he was not human, if he wanted to quickly get out of this eight-year-old shell, he had to master all the skills of a vampire, he needed to find a way back myself.

"You forgot to answer me, what do you want to eat?" Sharmaine has always shown himself to be gentle and respectful to Augustus, no matter what attitude he has, Sharmaine still doesn't care.

“Anything, as long as you bring it back.”

Sharmaine said goodbye to Augustus. She walked slowly under the trees, the sound of the wind in her ears, the sunlight gently shining on the ground. Sharmaine leaned over and picked up a leaf from the side of the road. Looking at the leaf, Sharmaine thought of herself as this leaf, she did not know what was waiting for her ahead.

Sharmaine comes to school, students politely greet Sharmaine, in the eyes of students, Sharmaine is a beautiful, intelligent and charming teacher. She always makes other people feel close but also scares them. Sharmaine is extremely intelligent, each of her lectures is interesting, students are not pressured, knowledge is received by them happily.

"Miss Halley, the world history you gave me at the beginning of the class, there are a few things I don't understand." The usual shy student girl spoke up.

Sharmaine was packing up her books and stopped and looked at the student girl: "I don't understand where, let me help you."

A student girl named Maki, normally the less prominent person in the class, Maki is quiet but hardworking, although her grades are not high, she is the one who studies the most.

"Miss."

"Let you tell."

"Actually, I have a question to ask you." Maki sat down next to Sharmaine.

“Miss Halley, do you believe in werewolves, vampires, and many magical creatures?” Maki has black hair, white skin with freckles, a smile that shows many thoughts. Sharmaine always feels that Maki is not like ordinary students, Maki always keeps the score at a fixed level, whether the test is difficult or easy, Maki always gets 78 points.

“Why are you asking me this?” Sharmaine was a bit surprised.

Maki smiled: "Recently there was a dead person in town, there was a tooth mark of a strange creature on his neck, his blood was sucked up. The state at the time of death was utter panic.”

Sharmaine looked at Maki, her face expressionless, she lived a long time, these few words could not frighten Sharmaine: "What are you saying, Maki."

Maki nodded: "Nothing, but I saw you fifty years ago, fifty years later, you still haven't changed."

“Who are you?” Sharmaine smiled faintly. Sharmaine is immortal, she tried to hide it, but with only Sharmaine's small strength, she couldn't completely hide. Maki said that she met Sharmaine fifty years ago, is Maki also an immortal race?

Maki looked at Sharmaine calmly: “Miss Halley, I don't want to hurt you. I just want to remind you, you smell of werewolves and vampires. Those two are natural enemies of each other, you shouldn't get involved with either of them." Maki mysteriously smiled, the things that Maki knew were not limited to the fact that Sharmaine was immortal.

Sharmaine looked at Maki's attitude, she recalled the previous lessons Maki listened to her lecture very attentively, is it possible that what Maki noticed was Sharmaine's attitude and loopholes? When Sharmaine arrived in this small town, she let her guard down.

“My business is not yours, thanks for reminding me. What do you want from me?" Sharmaine frankly, Maki who knows she is immortal is definitely not a simple person.

“I told you, I didn't hurt you. I just wanted to remind you. This town is not as peaceful as you think.” Maki blinked, Sharmaine is a strange person but she has never used her powers indiscriminately.

“I trust you not to harm me. If you have no intention of harming me then why are you telling me my secret.” Sharmaine doesn't understand, what is Maki's purpose.

Maki smiled, "I admire you, that's all."

"Where's the reason, if I judge, you're not a normal person."

"That's right, I'm your admirer." Maki was still repeating the same sentence just now.

Sharmaine is silent.

“You already know my identity, I will try to admire you.” Maki said and left.

Sharmaine looked at Maki, a premonition that was not right in her heart.

Sharmaine believes that things do not happen by chance, Maki must have been following Sharmaine for a long time. She suddenly remembered Mark, a cold and ruthless man, in order to achieve his goal, he was ready to kill everyone around. Sharmaine was worried, but she understood what the Mohini family was like, a ruthless and bloodthirsty family.

Sharmaine was thinking so she didn't notice, Kenvil suddenly appeared beside Sharmaine.

"Miss Halley, long time no see you?"

Sharmaine was surprised to see Kenvil, this man always wanted to take over and attract Sharmaine's attention. Apparently Sharmaine showed an attitude, she didn't want to have any connection with Kenvil.

"Hello." Sharmaine coldly responded to Kevin's enthusiasm.

"Why is Miss Halley always so cold to me?" Before becoming a teacher, Kenvil had a corrupt past. This man is a playboy, a bad guy. Kenvil knows he's got money, education, and looks, which are enough to make every girl crazy for him.

When Kenvil met Sharmaine, she was completely different from the previous women of Kenvil. Sharmaine does not care about Kenvil's flirting or sweet actions, on the contrary, she always creates distance between the two.

"You and I have never been this close. Kenvil, you and I are just colleagues. I hope Mr. Kenvil understands me too." Sharmaine frankly drew the line between herself and Kenvil. This man seems to want to let the whole school know that she is the one he is after, making Sharmaine's life no longer the same.

Kenvil saw Sharmaine's attitude, his eyes darkened, no woman had ever used that attitude to treat him.

"Sharmaine Halley, are you using this attitude to attract me?" Kevin grabbed Sharmaine's wrist.
