The Bedroom Test

Black’s eyes swept across the room, his cold eyes roofed with dark shadows imposing the dangerous aura he wanted on the two figures standing in front of him.

He glanced over to Kai and he gave a head nod to show he understood his words.

Daniel knew he was in for trouble and he started pleading for his life.

“I am so sorry big brother, it was a misunderstanding,” he said.

“Being in the lady's restroom doesn’t look like a misunderstanding Daniel” he said with a straight look, his eyes studying Daphne from head to toe.

Seeing Daphne almost passing out on a spot, he ordered Kai to stop.

“Next time you touch a strand of hair on her, I will cut off your hand” he threatened in a deep rough voice.

“It’s Grandma’s birthday, I don’t want to be bloody” he added.

Daniel scurried off at once.

Black saw how scared Daphne was, his lips pursed into a thin line but his brows moved with interest.

“If you run, I will hunt you down,” he said to her.

After saying that to her, he left with Kai.

Daphne slides down the wall crying silently. What has she gotten herself into? She never expected the disabled grandson of the household to be someone she promised never to meet.

What’s worse? She said herself to be killed by him if she ever appears before him again.

She prayed to be rejected by him like others and that’s the only hope for she.

“Let’s get rejected, yes that should do the trick” she started muttering to herself like a crazy woman.

She dropped her purse on the tabletop and that was when she saw how messy she looks. Her makeup was ruined because she cried and her hair got messy when she sat on the floor with her hair on the wall.

She was about to start cleaning up again when an idea occurred to her.

“It started with the old lady so it should end with her right?” She said to herself.

After minutes of soliloquy, she grabbed her purse and went back to the table.

When she entered, the crowd gasped at how rowdy and chaotic she was looking.

She’s holding one of her heels in hand and wearing the other one, she lumps to the table embarrassingly.

“I’m so sorry... I missed my steps and this happened so clumsily right?” She said and let out a cracked laugh.

Old lady Williams was surprised by her new behavior because she was on her best behavior when she was introduced to her.

Aunt Leah made weird gestures with her eyes warning Daphne to behave but she refused.

She took her seat roughly and would not even pack her hair.

Lady Rose stared at her with disdain “ How pathetic” she muttered.

Jessica was also confused as to why she was doing that but she wouldn’t dare talk to her again here at the party.

Lady Rose broke the awkward silence “So Black, do you like your new bride? Tell me right now and I will gladly start making preparations based on your reply” she said with a smile.

Black ate little of the food served to him. He dropped his cutlery and the corner of his lip shaped into a smile.

“I like her and I want her,” he said.

His reply shocked everyone and they could not close their mouth.

“Wait what? You seem to be mistaken... you what?” Daphne asked but she got no reply.

Aunt Leah was utterly surprised too but she was so happy that Daphne got accepted.

They’ve heard rumors of how heartless he could be when rejecting brides found by his grandma.

“Oh really?” Old Lady Williams squealed.

“Start making preparations for the wedding Lady Rose, I’m trusting you, “ he said straight up and asked Kai to get him back to his mansion.

Immediately, their wedding was announced and the old lady received heartfelt congratulations.

At the late hour when the party has ended, Daphne was about to enter the car prepared for her when Kai came to stop her.

“Mr.Black would like to have a moment with you,” he said to her.

Daphne wanted to hurry inside the car to run but Aunt Leah appeared out of nowhere like a magnet.

“Wow really? This is good” she said nudging Daphne forward to where Black’s man was standing.

“We will just go on our own, okay sweetheart? Don’t you worry, the four cherries are doing great” Aunt Leah said in a code to try and warn her to behave herself.

“I’m proud of you Daphne,” Mr.Jeffery said.

Daphne fisted her dress in her hands, annoyance flickered in her eyes.

They waved to her as they drove away from the mainland.

Daphne wore her heels trying to walk well with the second one she broke. 

She was taken to a different Mansion which is of few minutes' walk away from the old Lady’s side of the house.

Kai pushed open the big door and ushered her in.

“I will take my leave now,” he said to her then closed the door behind her.

She ran to the door banging hard on it

“Hey there! Wait you can’t leave me here” she cries.

A voice smacked her back to her senses “Why? I don’t bite Daphne... I can surely kill” he said seated in his wheelchair.

He surveyed her from head to toe again looking like a kitten beaten by the rain. His glacier eyes looked on.

Then suddenly, he stands up from the wheelchair and Daphne fell on her butt.

“ I promise not to tell anyone please let me go” she pleaded.

“Don’t make me the bad man here sweetheart, you came to me in your own accord, now you belong to me” he said.

Daphne opened her mouth wide to cry but then he hoisted her up and lifted her off her feet.

Daphne gasped at the strength of this man, she wondered why he chose to disguise himself as a disabled man in a wheelchair and why he uses a mask.

She gasped when he lifted her, she took glances at his beautiful set of eyes through the small hole of the mask.

His fine lips send her senses on fire, and she feels tempted to kiss his lips even though she’s trembling in his hold right now.

Black dropped her on the couch and starts to unbutton his shirt.

“What... what are you doing?” She stuttered.

“You passed grandma’s test... it’s time for mine” he said with a smirk.
