I took my seat at the head of the table, the weariness in my bones evident despite my best efforts to conceal it.

The elders had gathered for an important meeting, their worried gazes fixed upon me. It had been a while since I had spoken to anyone, withdrawing into a solitary shell of despair ever since I learned that my mate was missing.

My lips remained tightly sealed, a thin line of tension etched across my face. My hands rested on the table, fingers intertwined, a nervous habit born from the anxiety that had settled within me.

I listened attentively to the discussions about the pack's progress, the status of our warriors, and the various matters at hand.
