The whole way to the picnic table I'm thinking of a way to tell Chance we can't see each other or call each other again. It's not that I want him. No, the total opposite. I don't want him. I don't think I ever really did. But I have to find a way to tell him that without hurting him.

"I'm leaving." Chance blurts out.

"Okay. What does that have to do with me?'

"I want you to come with me. I know Aiden is your mate. But he still hasn't claimed you. I wouldn't wait to claim you. I want you. I love you. Come with me?" Well shit! How do I get out of this mess?

"I'm not leaving. Aiden and I have worked things out. We're trying to figure out this relationship thing. I'm sorry, but I don't feel the way you do. You have been an amazing friend to me, but that's all it has ever been for me."

Chance walks around the picnic table and stands close to me. His pleading eyes almost break my heart. I feel bad that he loves someone that can't love him back. He's quiet for too long. I begin to get nerv
