47. Pup

“What’s wrong?” I question, jumping off Osric’s back to be greeted by three wolves, one larger than the other two.

Eya is larger, shifted into a white wolf with silver tips. Ryder was shifted into a black wolf with white spots under his chin and underbelly.

Kitty is smallest shifted into a red and white wolf, similarly colored to a grey wolf but red.

“Everyone that could shift did when Osric howled,” Liliana speaks from the porch, waving me over with her other hand resting on her belly.

“Yeah, the council didn’t go well, but it did. Eya…”

“Don’t I could feel it and I’m sure she deserved it,” Eya interrupts me through the link, rubbing her head against my leg making me sob slightly.

“I know, but she was your mother,” I kneel in front of Eya while Osric rubs against her.

“You’ve done more for me than she ever has,” Eya reassures, hugging me with her neck.

I hold onto her for a moment relieved that she isn’t angry with me for taking someone so important from her life.
