17 - dates and emotions

Rayne's POV

The door bell rang a few minutes later and Nathan glanced at the wall clock,

“That must be be chef. What would you like for breakfast Leo?”

“Pancakes!”

Nathan laughed “That sounds yummy. Rayne could you get the door and relay that to her? I need to get ready or I’ll be late"

“Of course” I said, carrying Leo out of the room.

The chef was a chubby cheerful middle aged woman, who although I could see the curiosity in her eyes, didn’t pry and brought up casual conversations about the weather and breakfast like it was a routine we did everyday. She also took a liking to Leo which even though I was grateful for, I wasn’t surprised about. He was adorable.

While she made breakfast, I gave Leo a quick bath and tried my best to explain this new development in a way a five year old would understand.

“Leo, I know a lot has happened in the last few days and it’s a bit confusing, isn’t it?”

Leo thought about it for a second, then said
