Chapter Two

Kira’s POV

I listened feeling sharp pains of betrayal clawing at my bleeding heart.

"You have the guts to steal the one I love, Leila," my lips shook as they moved.

Declan wrapped his hands around Leila's waist and I couldn't feel my body. The continuous pounding of my heart refused to stop. It was as if my heart was about to explode without me knowing.

"Declan was never yours. Cut off all these drama," Leila snapped. “You’re only finding out now because you were too naive to see in the first place.” My heart throbbed painfully in my chest as they literally groped the other.

This is torture. I could see it now. All these while I didn't see it. Or maybe I did and just didn't read meaning into it because I never thought my best friend, the one I took as my sister would stab me in the back this way. The hurt was too much.

I drifted my eyes away from them as tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn't believe Leila could do this to me.

“Declan and I have been dating way before I introduced him to you… the plan was to get you here in this pathetic state, and not that we have what we want, the throne, we no longer need you.”

My heart literally shattered into pieces at her utterance, but most of all I felt rage. A red blinding rage coursing through my veins.

I tugged at the restraints around my hands and was about to attack Leila when suddenly the door flung open and two bulky men entered. They didn't utter a word to anyone but simply moved closer to me, seizing me up by my arms.

"Let me go, let me go," I tried struggling out of their grips but they held me tighter.

I was practically dragged into the large hall where a few old men who were the elders of the pack sat at a large table and a few members stood behind them, awaiting my trial.

When exactly did my life come to this? They rambled on and on about crimes I didn’t commit and whenever I tried to defend myself, I was smacked across the face by Declan.

"You are sentenced to death. A murderer should not be spared," I listened as the eldest elder pronounced the sentence on me.

"Kill her!" Declan commanded the body guards and they instinctively drew out their swords at his command. My body was tied to a pole and I was made to face the councils of elders.

Each of them looked at me with their aging eyes. I gulped and coughed out blood from my mouth. The severe beating I was given after I was dragged down from the forest made every part of my body throb.

It shook my body to the core, making me practically too weak to try defending myself anymore. Even if I wanted to, no one would listen.

It was Declan’s word against mine, their new alpha’s words against a shallow mentally deranged person who couldn’t bear the thought of losing her throne.

"Please, don't kill me," I pleaded with blood dripping from my mouth. My eyes were closing slowly as I was already losing strength.

I felt the sharp edge of the sword on my neck and goose bumps appeared all over my body. My hair stood and my body shivered.

Before the sword plummeted onto my neck, the last thing I saw was Leila pulling Declan into an embrace.

The scene tugged at my heart and broke my soul. The fact that they had to go to these lengths to get my throne baffled me but now I was calm. Calm because I would finally have the peace I have always longed for.

After breaking out of the embrace, I could hear Leila chuckle and mumble something along the lines of;

"Finally, her reign will come to an end. Now, I will be the Luna of the pack. I'm someone who doesn't have the blood of others in her hands."

The words that she spew made my blood run cold. She was never my friend and had never liked me. Tears leaked out of my eyes and blurred my vision; even my heart hammered against my chest frantically.

"Declan…," I called out with a weak voice. "Leila…," those were the only words I could utter before I heard a slashing sound, accompanied by a sudden sharp pain that made me shudder.

I let out a loud gasp of agony. Declan had slashed me in my weakest point- my left side. At that moment I regretted ever been so foolish. My eyes blinked and I tried so hard to keep them open but with each passing second,my breath became shallow.

"De-De-Declan." I coughed out blood. Raw pain shook my innards. With so much strength, I muttered my last words.

"You-you wi-wi-will regret this."

I didn’t know what happened after that because I immediately felt my spirit move out of my body.

"A sweet smelling savor hit my nostrils as I tried getting up from where I was lying. I heard a rumbling sound in the sky. The splashes of rain hit the windows and the wind caused the curtains to move in its direction.

""Where am I?" I asked myself. My eyes widened in surprise.

What am I doing here? A sprinting headache struck my head as I tried remembering.

This room…it looked familiar. When I was still trying to recall, the door clinked open and I clinged onto the bed sheets.

"You are awake," a calm and soothing voice called out and a teenage girl of about fifteen years old, walked into the room with a cup of coffee in her hand.

My body ached slightly. My feet touched the floor and I staggered, almost falling back onto the bed. The girl rushed towards me, placing the cup on the table beside my bed and helped me from falling.

"You aren't supposed to stress yourself, sis. You are still recovering."

"Sis?" My mind drifted away for a few seconds and something struck my mind. "Amber?" I called out, staring at her with a shocked face.

She looked just like she did two years ago, shortly before the accident she got into with father. What the hell was happening? She’s supposed to be dead…

"Is everything okay, Kira? I know you are still recovering but are you sure you are fine?" Her series of questions threw me off balance and my lips managed to utter words I couldn't understand.

"I'm fine. I just need to …," I snapped but my head began spinning. Something came over me and I got up again, not minding my weak legs.

From the wardrobe to everywhere my hand could lay on, I scattered everything in it. I pulled out the drawer and threw out the documents that were laying in it.

"Are you going nuts? Kira, what are you doing?" Amber yelled with a high pitch and tried pulling me away but I pushed her and she fell on her back.

This whole thing doesn't make sense, I need something to confirm my fear.

"I should call father. Maybe you need to be taken to the hospital or something," Amber lamented with panic in her voice. I heard tiny sounds of footsteps leaving the room but I totally ignored her.

My hand rested on a phone, finally I found what I was searching for. My shaky fingers slid through the power button and my eyes widened at what I saw.

The phone fell off my hand and I stood motionless. I stared at the spotless mirror and held my face.

"July 19, 2017?" I gasped. Everything made sense now. I was either in the afterlife or probably back in time.

"There’s no afterlife for you now doll face, this is definitely your past," a voice sneered from the back of my head and I spun around, wondering who it was.

Amber was no longer here and no one was here either. So who the hell was—?

"Do I have to introduce myself to you again? Is your brain back in time too?" she spat sassily. From the way she talked I already knew who it was.

It was Ayla, my inner wolf.

"Ayla?"

“Oh she’s suddenly so bright, she remembers now!” Her sarcastic comment rang through my head like an echo.

I ignored her this time though, for I was preoccupied with something else. Something more worth my time, and that was what I intended to do now that I’ve been brought back to back to life.

I slowly stepped away from the mirror, whilst plotting new different ways to get my revenge…
