Chapter Nineteen

Try to hide

With a mix of urgency and apprehension, Nico guided me away from the prying eyes of his nemesis who might be hiding somewhere in the crowd. He sought refuge in a secluded clearing area.

"How do you know about werewolf hunters?" Nico asked, his voice barely a whisper.

My eyes held a mixture of fear and determination. "I don't. You just mentioned now that they are one of the people who might hurt your kind." I moved closer to him so no one else heard me. "There has been a man watching your movements, his presence casting a shadow of unease."

Nico's mind raced, and his eyes began to confirm his darkest fears. I could feel his heart pound up against his ribs, a drumbeat of anticipation and dread.

"What do these hunters want? And how can they hurt you?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly
