Freya's POV
My rumbling stomach woke me up where I slept, still in my bed. I could feel my head throbbing painfully.I opened my eyes slowly and saw a figure sitting beside me on the bed, with his eyes locked on mine.At first, I thought it was merely a dream, but not until the memories of my encounter with a monster surged back into my head, I jumped out of bed with fear, my heart pounded wildly."You....... you're.....", I stuttered continuously with fear, as I dashed to one corner of the room, with my head hidden between my thighs. I couldn't imagine seeing his beastful transformation again.I peeped my head slowly out of my thighs, only to see him grinning in a mockery manner. "Do you really find me scary?, Or did I frighten you too much?", he asked me."No, no! Not at all", I lied through my teeth as I shook my head vigorously."Just let me go..... please", I pleaded as tears began forming in my eyes."But why? Do you dislike being with me so much?", he asked me with concern. "Don't you think that I would've hurt you if I wanted to?. I'm not actually the one you should fear, you should fear the bad guys outside waiting to lay their hands on you. You're safe here, miss", he added. "Why do you think I'll stay here with you when I get my own house to live in?Why will I suddenly be pursued by monsters whom I had nothing to do with?. My house is enough for me to live in", I lied to him again, hoping that he'll leave me alone soon."Oooh do you?. So why are you alone inside such a wild forest that night?. If you really had a home to live in, what would you do outside on such a rainy night?", He asked. Now I'm hooked, I really don't know what to reply again.I scratched my hair, thinking fastly for any lies that could save me from the disgrace of letting him know I had no home to live or went back to. My Life Sucks!!I was about to let out a lie, when he knocked on a nearby table set beside the bed where I woke, as if he was trying to divert my attention to the table. My eyes traveled quickly as it scanned the perfectly set delicious table. It consisted of different kinds of fruits and breads along with cheese and wine bottles. My eyes spotted the sandwich, which was cut in half. There were two pieces of meat laid neatly on each piece, accompanied by slices of tomato and lettuce. My mouths watered at the sight of this feast, even though I hadn't eaten anything for the past 24 hours, the smell of the food made me hungry instantly. My stomach growled loudly at the prospect of eating something good for once. "How about you obey your stomachs first?Try and get used to this house, since you'll be staying here henceforth", he said as he turned back and left, leaving me alone inside the room with those tempting delicacies. Actually, I'm not the type who would ever lose her pride over some random foods just because I'm hungry, so I'm going to ignore the food.....I promised myself.*********Four minutes later, I consumed everything on the table, except for a bottle of rum I ignored in order to protect my pride. I could feel the sweet sensation of the alcohol sliding down my throats and freshening up my brains. I felt elated, it's been years I've gotten the chance to taste such a balanced food, especially having a glass of rum to accompany them.As I sat comfortably on my chair, a question popped into my head. "Will you really stay with a beast?", The question hit me like lightning as I jumped up where I sat comfortably.Without thinking twice, I peeped to the door side. I scanned through the whole corridors before I took a step forward. I'd taken two steps out of the room before I remembered that I left a bottle on the table, screwed, I had to hurriedly sprint back to pick it up before leaving. As I stepped out of the room, I found myself in a dream-like hall. It took me minutes before I realized that it wasn't a hall but a sitting room. It was large enough for 20 people to sit around comfortably. There were several paintings hanging on the walls, depicting various landscapes from faraway lands. All were painted beautifully and elegantly, giving off an air of elegance. "Such a super rich bastard", I bubbled in my heart as I opened the door silently and Successfully got outside of the building. One would've thought a beast should have his house built in the wild, but no, this one beast is living among humans, even in the best house and the best street in New York, Knickerbocker Ave, Brooklyn.Even though I knew that he was a beast, I didn't expect him to possess such wealth, nor did I ever expected anyone around his age to build such a beautiful mansion.A single glance at the grandeur of the place already made me dizzy. "This man has money, lots of cash, and gold bars to spare in which I need none", I concluded as I escaped out of his compound and ran back into the streets. The sun was setting in the west, casting its rays onto the cityscape, making everything look more alive than usual.I walked briskly towards the nearest train station, feeling somewhat relieved now that I've finally managed to escape. There I boarded the train to Irving Place, going nowhere else, except Christine's House, the only friend I could think of in that situation. Actually, I knew she wouldn't want to accept me, but She'll surely agree after a few persuasions, this I'm sure of.I brought out my phone to call her, but later changed my mind, knowing that she will lock the door and deter me from entering, so I changed my mind. "A sudden surprise visit won't hurt too much", I grumbled with an evil grin widely displayed on my visage.Freya's POVThe journey from Brooklyn to Irving Place is quite long. After four stops, I reached the last stop, where I alighted and ran away from the crowd to the nearest alleyway. It took me five minutes to walk before I reached Christine's place, in which I spent each and every minute of it in fear. "This monster stole away my peace", I mumbled to myself, as I approached the front yard of the building.Every shadow looked like a monster to me, and every standing tree and shrub looked like beasts to my eyes.I tried to open the door, but failed miserably; Christine would've never changed the password to unlock the door without telling me, since she knew I visited her whenever I wanted to anyway. After trying three times, I decided to try calling her number. Without delay, I dialed her number and it rang, for five different times without her answering the call. I was confused what's happening, it was 8:54pm, Christine will never stay that late outside. "Is she inside and inte
Freya's POV Her ears twitched rapidly as she peered at me in bewilderment, like a hare whose eye had found a carrot."Seriously?" she shouted, her eyes wide open and her mouth gaping agape. My head nodded enthusiastically.YES, I DID IT!Her reaction made me feel good inside, knowing that I have finally managed to convince her. However, she seemed skeptical as well. Her eyebrows are knitted together, giving her a look of doubtfulness. Now is the time for me to add more lies to convince her totally. Of course, I trust Christine, she can detect my lies anytime if I'm not careful."So you want to stay here for the night? You've eaten?", She asked me with a bright grin on her face. Now It seems my lies are working more than my imagination. Like a cool innocent girl, I nodded in acceptance. "Yes I've eaten....I ate hamburgers in the afternoon, of course, half loaf is better than none", I replied in a silent pitched tone to crown my lies. "Ooooh sorry dear.....that means you're into
Tigreal was sitting peacefully on his long sofa, holding a glass of champagne and enjoying the appeasing mood when he felt a puzzling sensation all over his body. Tig's body trembled incessantly as if there was an electric current going through it. Except for his head, his body became inactive. He felt as if his brain seemed to be drained out through the top of his skull. "My Marble Is In Danger" He marveled as his body jerked and shuddered uncontrollably until he finally collapsed onto the floor. He was in this state for almost ten minutes before I could stand again without falling or passing out from exhaustion. "I could sense the danger lurking around my Marble, I could sense the negative energies lurking around it. Had I known, I shouldn't have allowed that naive and oblivious girl to leave on her own", Tigreal muttered regretfully. Tigreal was in his room earlier, viewing her life through the camera installed beneath the ceiling fan. Watching how she consumed su
"Ooooh.... she's blinking her eyelids," the voice quipped abruptly, forcing me to open my eyes slowly and grudgingly."That's Dave's voice," I knew right away.My eyelids felt like they were stuck shut with superglue when I gently opened my eyes.My vision was blurry and hazy, as if the sun had set in front of my eyes, and they burned and hurt me severely. As I hastily covered my two ears with my palms, I could hear deafening sounds like drums being banged in my ears. "What's happening to me again?", I sobbed painfully.I was still In this pain when I felt a hand touch me. "That's Christine", I bubbled in my heart as the hand helped me up and gave me a tight hug, holding me tightly to her chest. "You asshole....you nearly got me killed within your two days of endless sleeping. You deserve a head knock", She yelled at me with a teary voice as she patted me on the head. Slowly, I forced my eyes open, only to find myself on a bed in a strange room, with water drips passed in
Freya's POVI eventually came to a halt in front of the living room, where I saw him sitting comfortably on the couch, reading a book.He was puzzled to find me standing there with a frightened expression on my face, but he smiled gently and beckoned me towards him."Oh, you've arrived? How is your health now? ", he inquired, his voice concerned."Fine," I said monotonously, attempting to escape his gaze, but his final words rang in my ears. "How did you find out about my health? How did you find out I was disabled? "I asked him several times. His smile quickly changed into a scowl "Why are you posing such queries? You already knew the answer, didn't you? ". His tone was caustic and cold.I remained mute, staring down at my feet with a bewildered expression on my face, now that I'd received the answer to my question. The expression on his face implies that he was aware of my unexpected sickness, and hence he is to blame. "Do you really have to go this far just because of a mere
Freya's POV The joy of sitting comfortably in a car with AC, the happiness of listening to the radio station and driving along the highway made me feel like I'm floating on clouds.Everything seems so peaceful and calm, except for his presence beside me, I don't know how many times I had to remind myself that there's nothing wrong in letting him take care of me.In fact, it would be great if he could be my friend, someone whom I should trust completely and unconditionally. Someone who wouldn't hurt me, but protect me from harm.Even though I don't want to admit it, I feel it deep down inside my heart. Sitting comfortably in his car reflects back long time memories of me sitting with my dad the same way as this. The happy memories surges into my head like a tide, but the fact that it's nothing but ordinary pasts and memories made me gravely hurt and sad.I sighed deeply, closed my eyes tight as I tried to fight back the tears which welled up in them, trying hard to hold back my em
Freya's POVThe closer I go to this man-like beast, the more I want to know about him. Who exactly is he? Why does he treat me this way? Is he simply having fun with me? Is he even mindful of my survival? Or was he just looking after his treasure, which I had with me?These were the types of thoughts that ran through my mind. The most striking feature was that he already knew my name, and his manner of addressing me made it clear that he already knew everything about me. He's the most handsome man when he's chuffed, but the most hideous when he's upset or depressed. He's hasty in his actions at times, but yet cool in others; he's even come to purchase me clothes right now.One thing about me is that I despise accepting gifts from strangers, especially males. Receiving assistance that I may not be able to return makes me feel pitiful, and I loathe it.The more I refused his assistance, the more he insisted. Now I have no option but to take the items. My eyes brimmed with Surprise
"Do we really have to go back there?", I asked him for the third time but he didn't reply, rather, He just sighed and continued driving. "What would be my response if I were asked why I sneaked out of the hospital without informing anyone about it?", I asked him again, this time with a concerned tone. "Especially Christine my friend", I bubbled that in my heart. It was by then that I remembered that I stole Christine's wallet, and this means I'm probably in hot soup. I trust Christine, she won't hesitate to give me a head knock before any sorts of explanations. "What if she asked me who this man is?, what would've been my reply?"I asked myself again, and this makes me feel more than scared now.I don't want people asking why I sneaked out at such an early hour, especially if it's to meet someone, especially a handsome man like this monster besides me. I looked outside from the car window, the sun was already setting and that meant another problem for me to face. Knowing
