Leah's Pov

"Axel! Axel!" I called out anxiously as I hurried into the condo. My heart raced as I frantically searched for any sign of my husband's return.

Just beside the shoe rack were a pair of...male shoes.

Was Axel really home?

My breath came in gasps as I dashed into the living room, shouting, "Axel!" But there was no sign of him, or Jasper.

"Granny Ruth, where are you?!" I called out, feeling a sense of desolation as the house remained silent, like a graveyard that I dreaded.

Was it all a dream? Could I be hallucinating? My mind raced with questions as I walked into the garden, devastated by the absence of my family.

As I scanned the garden, my eyes caught sight of a shadow standing under the cherry blossom tree.
