Chapter 78

Delilah's POV:

Asteria stopped by the edge of the bed, "You'll know soon. Very soon, actually."

She was closer to me. I just needed to flung forward and dig my claws in her slender throat. Heaving a massive breath, I forced my frail body and jumped toward her. Raising my hand, I slashed it across her face.

She shot back just in time. Eyes wide with shock, I looked at my hand. Panic swelled inside me when I saw nails instead of sharp claws.

I instantly reached to the back of my mind, "Akira?"

I heard no response. I tried again to call her forward but my wolf didn't surface. I couldn't even feel her with me. All I felt was an emptiness within myself. I screamed her name in my mind over and over again but all I got in response was silence.

My eyes sliced to Asteria and I gritted out, "What the hell did you do to Akira? Where is she?"

She looked at me intently, "She is fine. And just as I said before, everything will be alright, it all depends on whether you cooperate with me or not."
