Chapter Four ~Faking A Mate Bond~

~Jasper~

The surprise Dorian and Orion had was a party.

They had planned a party and we were all going to attend. It is going to be at Orion's place, the Bayview Silver Pack colony.

I declined at first but my wolf wasn't pleased with that idea.

It was still hurting from the rejection. I reckoned it would be better if I asked Seraphina why she rejected me. Probably if she does tell me, I will be able to move on, just like that slug, Gwen.

I arrived late. The party was blasting with music. Everyone is in the mood.

Orion was making brews with a few other guys. I couldn't spot Reginald, Eddy, and Dorian.

Someone comes from behind me. "You are here man." Reginald puts his arms around my shoulder.

Reginald And I have been close friends since we were kids. We started together before Orion joined us, then Dorian, and Finally Eddy.

"What did I miss?" I asked.

"Not much. Got myself busy with some pretty girls over there." He beckoned at a seat with two pretty ladies who waved back at us. "I saw you walking in like a ghost, so I came to rescue my best friend." He grinned.

The party seemed to have made Reginald loosen up a bit. He wasn't as moody as he was at school earlier today.

"That's great."

"Let's go have a seat with them."

I followed Reginald back to where the girls sat. "Hey, ladies. You all know him right? He needs no introduction."

"Yeah, Who wouldn't know Jasper? San Francisco's bad boy," The lady with the blonde hair said.

"We heard what happened to you. Don't worry. It's her loss," The other lady said. She appeared to be more talkative.

"Shh…He doesn't like talking about it. Stop." Reginald warned.

It was too late because she had already spoiled my mood.

"Excuse me, I would like to meet someone." I rose to leave without looking back. I overheard Reginald telling them 'I told you'.

Fortunately, I found Seraphina taking the stairs.

Of course, this was her pack's territory. I knew I was going to see her and that is why I came in the first place. I hurried up after her.

She was with some guy who looked familiar. Oscar Klingon! My opponent. We hated each other.

I despised the air he breathed as did he. He was one of those guys I would not hesitate to erase from the surface of the earth if I had a chance. We had an ugly history because of some girl named Katherine.

I think I would have left if Seraphina was with some other guy. But Oscar Klingon. Did she reject me for him?

I could feel my wolf surfacing. It was ready to unleash havoc.

"Seraphina. I need to talk to you," I said.

"Can't you see the lady is busy?" Oscar replied.

I walked to face him, his breath hitting my face. "I wasn't talking to you." I grabbed Seraphina's hands and pulled away from him. "Come here, right now!"

"Jasper, please. Easy," She whimpered.

A strong hand yanked me, taking her hands away from mine. "Let her go, you fucking rejected wolf." He pushed me away.

I bit my bottom lip until I could taste blood. I growled, hot blood pumping through my veins. "What did you say?"

Seraphina gripped Oscar's hand. "Stop Oscar."

"I said you fucking rejected—"

I didn't allow him to finish the sentence before slashing him in the chest with my claws. My wolf finally surfaced. Oscar who had crashed into the nearby table rose, he tore his clothes, let out a growl, and began to shift.

He kicked me with his paws. This sends me falling downstairs. I took the chandelier down with me. Broken glasses and wood everywhere.

Oscar jumped down to punch me with his feet but I dodged it. I didn't waste another minute before shifting into my wolf form too. I lunged at Oscar, digging my teeth into his flesh. He let out a loud howl. I was so determined to kill him. It is hard to believe that it was because of this idiot Seraphina humiliated me.

The party venue was in turmoil. Everyone screaming and running for safety as two angry werewolves fight to the death. Yeah to the death! We were both wounded, all bloodied but none of us gave up.

We turned a happy partying spot into a fighting arena.

We were both panting from the fight. Another werewolf, who was bigger and stronger, kicked me. I crashed into the bar shattering the bottles of drinks.

Oh so, that's it. Two against one. Who was the person helping Oscar? Surprisingly the wolf kicked Oscar too. He crashed into the wall.

Shit! It was my dad. He growled. A growl only befitting of an Alpha. I whimpered, bowing my head in submission.

"You disgraced me and our pack! What were you thinking?" My father yelled.

I had always been a rebellious son. This wasn't the first time my father would have such an outburst because of me.

"The Pacific Moonrise Pack has a good reputation but all you do every day is how to tarnish that good image." He punched the wall. "Are you the first person to get rejected? How would you know if you weren't rejected because of your bad ways?"

I laughed at the last question my father asked. "And you think Oscar is good? She rejected me for that bastard."

My father slapped me. "I am talking and you find it funny."

The slap stings but it doesn't stop me from pouring out my heart. "I am just being honest, father. You taught me that I should always go for what I want no matter the cost. That's what I am doing. Why are you mad?"

He stood silently. "Jasper. I told you that when you were a little boy. I wasn't as wise as I am today."

I could smell my mother nearby. She refused to intervene. She knows better when my father is this angry.

"You are soon-to-be Alpha. When will you stop behaving like this?"

"Father, he called me a fucking rejected wolf!"

"Son, the first lesson you should learn before becoming Alpha is that everything happens for a reason and you must never get too sentimental." He left the sitting room infuriated.

My mother sneaks in when she hears his fading footsteps. "Jasper, look at what you've done to yourself." she cupped my cheeks in her hands. "You need to rest, so you will heal fast." She pulls me into a hug.

"I know," I whispered, gradually pulling away from her and headed to my room. I could feel her eyes watching me. She knew I wanted to be alone….

While my father was having a fatherly time babbling about all the acts of self-righteousness I had to emulate.

I was thinking of a plan and I came up with one.

I had to think of a girl who would be good at keeping this plan a secret if she eventually agreed. And I think I found the perfect one.

Oscar's words kept repeating in my head. A fucking rejected wolf. Me.

Immediately I locked the door to my room, I picked up my phone and searched for a contact I have had for a long time but I never had a reason to dial.

There it was. Gwen Blackthorn. A girl I didn't like, one I avoided like a plague and one I had bullied for years and still teased.

I shut my eyes. I needed to do this. That's the only way.

I messaged her.

Gwen, This is Jasper Draven. I have something important I need to discuss with you. Meet me at the children's park tomorrow at 8:00 pm.

I wasn't sure if she was going to agree to forge a fake mate bond with me. But that was the only way she and I would survive the humiliation. She needed me as much as I needed her.

I don't want to look desperate but at this point, faking a mate bond with a weak wolf was better than what Oscar called me. A fucking rejected wolf...
