My mom just woke me up. I slept for most of the day. Now there are only a couple of hours before the party gets started. I check my phone. I’m surprised that the guys have not tried to call me today. It’s Ben’s birthday. We usually hang out on each other’s birthday. I thought we would have done lunch together or something. Maybe I should call him and see what he is doing.
“Hi, Ben, happy birthday. Tell Rose I said happy birthday as well.” I say when he answers the phone.

When Shana and I arrive at the party, everything is in full swing. I see my nine friends all sitting at one big table. It’s the same every year. Since all of our birthdays as so close, we also sit at the table of honor. I take Shana’s hand and slowly walk her to our table. I see Ben sitting between Mona and Seleste. My mom and I spend the rest of the morning pampering ourselves. We get Mani and Pedi at the pack’s nail shop. We went to lunch at our favorite dive. My mom and I share a love of good burgers. My mom got a mushroom Swiss burger with bacon added. I got a cheddar bacon burger with crispy onion on top of the burger. It’s made with one beef and one pork patty.
