Chapter seventeen

CORA’s POV…

As I sat in the garden, the wonderful breeze blowing my hair to my face, I could not help but close my eyes. It felt so peaceful here—far more peaceful than it was in the house. I sighed, "Thank goodness there’s a garden; it feels like heaven; at least I’d get to be in peace, away from these people." I spoke to myself as I rubbed my hands slightly against my arm.

I closed my eyes. I just needed to be away from that house—away from everyone for some time at least. I sighed as I got up, walking to the swing in the garden as I sat in it, moving myself in it from time to time. What came over me while I was with Leonardo, and why was I feeling this hurt that he had chased me away?

I was honest with him; I really didn’t know how to do those things that he had asked me to do, so why did he choose to push me away that way?
