85-Mourning…..

Ariella’s POV

The memorial service took over an hour, but no one seemed to mind. I arranged for a smaller dinner for the families where my parents could pay their respects personally. As they gathered, I went to the back drive to greet my parents and brother.

Caleb leaped out of the car and wrapped me in a hug. Lewis was next and he was apologizing over and over for not making the charms strong enough.

“Ariella,” Father’s deep voice broke through the fog of love my brother and Lewis wrapped me in.

The fog cleared and I see my Father.

The past months are weighing on him. His once black hair is now completely gray. His eyes are sunken, and his skin is dull. Back in March, he was so much better looking.

“Father,” I nod slightly. “Thank you for coming tonight and meeting with the families.”

Father nods.

“Have you been a good Luna?” Mother asks. She is thinner too. More gait and pale. Her brown hair that once shined like the sun is dull and lifeless.
