Flora’s P.O.V
Garrick didn’t say anything but he put his hand on the small of my back as he led me deeper into the pack house and down a flight of steps into a large all-white room with several beds inside, some of which were occupied, the white sheets stained red.
The pack house was packed with people tonight, but they weren’t running around in awe or making trouble. Everyone was huddled together with the remaining members of their family that wasn't in the battlefield, giving and receiving strength from the bonds they shared. Some had volunteered to help while others looked too scared to do anything but huddle together in the corners.
“Flora!” There was relief in Jessica’s voice as the older healer came over to me. Her naturally wavy bronze hair was tied up into a tight bun at the top of her head and the teal coloured dress she had on had dark brown patches of dried blood in them. “I’m so glad yo
Flora’s P.O.V“Here.” Ruth handed me a can of lime soda as she took a seat beside me.I had found her minutes after my little chat with Garrick and we had stuck together ever since, unless any of us were needed at our stations. Everyone was tense and worried and scared and so, Ruth and I had huddled together whenever we could and taken strength from each other.Ruth had been given charge of the submissive teenagers in the thirteen to fifteen range since she was good with kids and she fell in the range between submissive and dominant, although she was more dominant than me but not as dominant as Garrick. She had the perfect dominance for the kids so that they both listened to her and didn’t feel like running the other way. Now, she once again sat beside me after having to rush over to a thirteen year old boy who had fainted from stress. He hadn’t regained consciousness yet but Jessica had been able to get a qu
Flora’s P.O.VA few warning howls went up in the air as I had suspected and I could distinguish Garrick’s call amongst them; but I didn’t stop to think. All I needed to do was find Clay and get him back no matter what.I pushed harder, ran faster through the denser parts of the forest to the borders of our pack where the fight was taking place. I didn’t change into my wolf because I didn’t know when I would need to turn human again. It was a moonless night and the stars weren’t too bright either. It made my heart beat erratically as I looked around with my wolf’s eyes. I didn’t like the dark, never had, never will. And this darkness felt ominous. Omnipotent. But I didn’t have time to give in to my fears and weaknesses. Clay needed me. Something told me he was in danger and I needed to hurry.I followed the direction of the pull. I didn’t know where I was going but somethin
Flora’s P.O.VEvery single red eyes snapped in my directing in an instant.Maws were bared, claws lengthened and their lips pulled back over incredibly sharp teeth. The rogues looked ferocious, animals without mercy. And I had just set foot into their trap.Clay’s eyes snapped open as soon as he got a whiff of my scent and I knew I had to act before the rogue wolves went to attack him. So I charged towards them with a battle cry and they immediately hounded towards me.I was thrown back an instant later as one of the wolves tackled me to the ground and then all five wolves were surrounding me, ready to pounce.I closed my eyes, bracing myself for those sharp fangs to sink into my flesh, but another growl sounded from right behind me, and the one holding me down was suddenly thrown off of me.Snapping my eyes open, I found Clay’s wolf tearing at the rogue’s throat as blood splattered everywhere.
Flora’s P.O.VDarkness. It was all around me; all consuming and everlasting. As a child, I had always been scared of the dark. Maybe it was the absence of the moon that made me feel like the Goddess has withdrawn her blessing from me; or maybe it was the ghostly stories that Riley used to scare me with when I was a child. But darkness was always something that frightened me…suffocated me.But this darkness didn’t suffocate me. This darkness was…caring; filled with love.Clay…He was nearby, I could feel it. There was something about Clay…a kind of warmth to his aura…something that called to me. It was that same gut feeling that led me to him when he was in trouble. And now, in this darkness, it was that same feeling that was leading me to light.I didn’t know how long I had been out for but it was time to wake up…to see Clay with my own two eyes and make sure he was
Flora’s P.O.V“Flora.”“Clay!”I was in his arms an instant after he entered through the door, right after Alpha Nicolai left and all my worries and fears were instantly forgotten.Clay’s arms wrapped around me tightly as he came to sit on the infirmary bed. I took in a deep breath, taking in the earthiness of his scent along with a hint of spice. I was so glad that his scent was no longer mixed with the metallic tinge of blood. He was safe and I was in his arms. That was all that mattered to me.“Oh, God! Thank God!” Clay whispered as he pulled away and cupped my cheeks with his hands. His beautiful eyes were filled with worry as he took me in and then he was showering my face with kisses, from my forehead to my nose, my cheeks and then finally my lips.It felt like…I was able to breathe again. The kiss wasn’t hungry and passionate like the way he always ki
Flora’s P.O.V“Clay…where are we going?”“Shhh…no questions.” Clay’s breath fanned my cheek as he turned back to look at me. “You’ll ruin the surprise.”“Really?” I held up my tied hands to what I assumed was in front of his face. “Because this looks like an abduction.”Clay’s laugh was like a fresh burst of sunshine and I could hear birds chirping in the distance, as if they too were delighted by the sound.“It’s not my fault you wouldn’t sit still and kept reaching for the blindfold.” He said. “Consider it a precautionary measure.”“Or I’m being led to a villain’s secret lair where I’d be forced to have an unforgettable experience…?” I provided.“Oh, I’m counting on it.” There was laughter in his voice as he carried me through unk
Flora’s P.O.VI slept with my head on Clay’s shoulders, the soft picnic blanket under me and a light cover thrown over our naked bodies. Clay was staring up at the evening sky quietly while his hand traced lines on my sides, the gesture almost unmindful. My palm was spread over his heart as I listened to the steady beat, happy to be engulfed in the warmth of his body, but even I could feel the strain in his shoulders, the stiffness of his muscles.“What’s wrong?” I asked, patting him on the chest lightly. “You’re unusually quiet.”Clay turned to me with a small smile and kissed my forehead lightly. “It’s nothing, just thinking.”“Your birthday is in a week,” I said quietly, sinking deeper into him to feel his warmth. I don’t know if it was the night air or the chilling realization that we were almost out of time that had me feeling numb all over, but my be
Flora’s P.O.VThe dress I wore was a soft pink in colour and made with a gorgeous shiny material. The top was a slight v-neck, sleeveless and form fitting up to my waist then it flowed into the skirt that reached just past my knees. But the most beautiful feature were the golden vines that were embroidered all over the dress, giving it a vintage look.Since I hadn’t taken off the necklace he had given me, it was going to be the only piece of jewellery I’d decided on wearing, except for the watch on my right hand.I’d kept my makeup light and neutral and pulled my hair up in a ponytail, with a few strands hanging in front of my face. I’d also paired the dress with golden heels to match the patterns on my dress. Everything seemed perfect.“Flora?”A knock sounded on my door, followed by my mother’s voice. Putting aside the hair brush, I called for her to come in.“Oh my! Yo
