Sera jolts awake, her chest heaving from the vivid nightmare's residue. “No... you can't do this... you're supposed to take only a tiny bit,” Lana's anguished plea echoes in her ear, and the surreal confrontation replays in her mind like a haunting reel.A desolate and somber air fills the room, memories of Alpha Damon tenderly embracing Lana while she sobs linger, shrouded in the ethereal glow of moonlight. The guard stationed before the Alpha’s chamber abruptly veers around, catching sight of a mysterious shadow rushing toward him. Before he can utter a question or sound an alarm, a sharp bite pierces into his neck, forcing him into a sudden, noiseless collapse.The figure attempts to slip into Damon's chamber, only to be halted by the unexpected resistance of a latched door. He whispers to himself in amusement. “Why station a guard after shutting the door? What a peculiar man.” He chuckles as he retrieves a small box from his inner pocket, and fetches out a slender pin. His fingers move with practiced precision, and he manipulates the pin into the tiny crevices of the lock. Shortly, a hushed prom between metal and mechanism ensues, and the pin coaxes the latch to surrender. As it turns, the door yields, and it swings open soundlessly. LanaWhen I get back to my room, my mind races back to the moments that led to this unsettledness in me. A guard rushed into the stables, shattering the moment once again. Panic etched across his face, and the urgency of the situation reflected as he closed in.“Alpha, a vampire breached the mansion and bit down on a fellow guard. He disappeared with Miss Sera," he reported urgently. Alpha Damon's gaze met mine, and a momentary storm brewed in his penetrating eyes. His cold gaze reminded me of the Alpha I was accustomed to, and fear tightened its grip on me. Just as panic threatened to consume me, he turned to address me. “Find Miss Hart and Isabella,” his deep voice, firm and unwavering. “Stay with them. I'll handle this.” The reassurance in his words battled against the apprehension in my heart, but in an instant, he was gone with the guard.
