Chapter 29

The people who seem the strongest are usually the most broken. I knew how hard it was to lose someone you love. When I looked into Pierre's face, my heart broke. Pierre held my hand tightly, tears streaming down his face.

I wanted to break. But I knew I couldn't. I had to be strong for both of us. I just held his hand in silence, offering the solace and comfort of knowing someone was with him.

When we're looking for comfort, most of us don't look for someone to ask us what's wrong. We don't want sympathy, we don't want pity, we don't want regret. We don't want that constant "are you okay?" and most importantly, we don't want someone to give us false security. We seek comfort in simple physical contact. We just want reassurance that we have someone to support us and not someone who is going to question and judge us at our every move.
