Chapter 81

I didn't really know what to say to Pierre as I held him in my arms, but I wanted to heal him. We spend so much time together, just holding each other, that we forget about food. And when we went to bed, I couldn't sleep a wink. The intensity of the situation he told me still weighed heavily on me.

Tired of rolling over and not wanting to wake him up, knowing that moments of peaceful sleep like he was getting were rare, I calmly slipped out of the sheets and walked out of the bedroom towards the beach.

The grains of sand penetrated my feet as I walked. The only noise I could hear was the waves and I couldn't be more grateful. I wanted to unwind a little and that was a natural tranquilizer. The beach looked prettier than when we arrived, with just the moonlight and hotel lights reflecting off the water.

Now I understood Pierre's dislike of his mother and why Adrian seemed to be her darling. He had reason to hate her. Even if it wasn't entirely her fault. Arianna was selfish
