He can't answer Melissa's question. He doesn't know what he should answer. Can he handle losing Riana again?

He immediately changed the topic and just bumped into Melissa. And Melissa knew that he was avoiding that question.

"Do you think she will get better soon?" she asked.

"Let's wait for her to wake up, Alpha," Melissa replied.

Alpha Killian couldn't take his eyes off Riana. Melissa could see that. She didn't ask about it repeatedly because she knew Alpha Killian wouldn't deny the truth either.

A few moments later, Melissa announced that she was leaving to cook dinner with the werewolves assigned to cook in the kitchen.

"I'll bring you food when I return," Melissa said softly before leaving.

Alpha Killian did not disappear by Riana's side. He waited for her to wake up while observing her gentle and beautiful face. Why was he able to hurt her then? Why was he able to leave the woman he now regrets?
