Chapter Nineteen

 

Shannon Daniels pale expression watched her husband undress. He prepared to take a shower. Dale glanced at his wife untying his necktie.

She smiled. “How was your day?” she asked, sitting up against the pillows. He walked toward her. Dale dropped his body next to hers. He grabbed her hand cradling it in his. “Hate to say it, fresh murdered victims.”

Shannon dropped his hand. Her hand flew across her chest. The news devastated her. She turned facing Dale again. “My God, you guys can’t catch this monster?”

“Not right now. Honey, don’t let the murders bother you.”

She sighed twisting away from him. Dale dropped his gaze toward the floor. He stood heading for the bathroom. The door clicked behind him. He undressed standing over the bathroom sink. Leaning closer to the mirror, his light brown eyes appeared bloodshot from sleepless nights. Aging process crept up on Dale faster than it should. Caring for Shannon, stressful murder cases, the last four months took its toll. He
