Lisette was sitting in the back of the private plane, with the headphones on her head and an evident don't-bother-me expression, ordering sometimes a sparkling drink and snacks to keep her stomach satiated. Eleonor tried to sit next to her, but Giovanni made clear his intention to torment her, and forced her to stay next to him, by the window, where she would have nowhere to run. The plane took off quickly because the pilot was so impatient that he literally shouted the commands and told everyone to sit down right away. Eleonor keeps her eyes on the small window and watches the clouds go by like cotton candy. She tries to focus on the scenery, but it's hard because Giovanni's eyes are pinching her skin and making it feel warm when he looks at her. Even though she tries to look like she doesn't care, their eyes meet at the window's reflect and Giovanni smiles smugly. She closes her eyes tightly and sighs. She finally faces him, but she regrets it right away. They're very close. She
The car was waiting for them when they arrived at the airport. Eleonor takes off her heavy coat to enjoy the cold air in the car. It's very hot outside. Lisette seems to melt into her seat, trying to shake herself with her own hand. Italy's winter is much colder than Mexico's, which was 80ºF right now in Cancun. Through the dark glass, Eleonor observes her husband talking on the phone. She wonders how he can stand the heat in the dark suit he’s wearing. Lisette's voice brings her back to reality, and she gives a jolt as if caught in the act. “How was the trip?” “Hellish.” Eleonor shrugs, trying to sound bored. The truth is, after almost giving in to temptation again, she struggled to ignore him for the next six hours. Eventually, she fell asleep, and woke up with her head resting on his shoulder, and he was also asleep. She didn't want to admit to herself that she was slowly getting used to the idea of Reviello, who didn't seem so bad. The image of the cruel and indifferent man she h
When Eleonor realizes that there is only one bed in that huge room, her jaw almost drops. As if sharing a room with Reviello wasn't enough, there's just one bed! She immediately casts a sharp glance at Giovanni, who plays dumb. He's already walking around the room, inspecting it closely.“There's only one bed! I think we'd better take another room.” She says, trying not to stare at him.“Of course there would only be one bed, we're a happy couple on honeymoon.” He answers in a sly voice. Eleonor rolls her eyes. “You're not renting another room, love.”“What happened to the CONSENT clause, which says that I wouldn't be obligated to any acts?” She crosses her arms, and feels a shiver run down her spine when she notices the mischievous smile he displays on his lips.“Maybe I broke it when you decided to break the one of FIDELITY one.” He tilts his head.“Well, I think have the right to impose a penalty on you, then.” She smiles, but immediately regrets it, as Giovanni slowly and confiden
The resort is, as expected, extremely luxurious and spacious. The place is surrounded by palm and coconut trees and huge swimming pools that take up most of the outdoor area. Even though she came from a wealthy family, Eleonor had never been to such a stunning place before. They took the resort's itinerary and found out that the facilities even include a spa, as well as restaurants, pubs, and other sports activities to entertain the customers. In the background, the beach's white sand merges with the green grass of the property. As they walk outside, where the pools can be seen, Lisette's voice sounds gracefully along with the birdsong that, due to the airy and wooded environment, kept several species. “I'm glad we're here. I mean, I know the circumstances aren't the best, but… I couldn't stand that cold anymore!”Eleonor giggles. “I know what you mean. And this place is beautiful!”“Giovanni has many faults, but he knows how to spend his money!” Lisette gives an acid smile. Perhaps b
Eleonor returned to the room, but found it empty. There was only the furniture in the room. The smell of roses hung in the air. She knows Giovanni isn't there, but she still searches for him with her eyes, hoping to find him either on the balcony or coming out of a cold bath. When did she start to want to see him? Until very recently, Reviello was just a last name that now adorned hers. A shadow following her. Now he really seems to be her husband. Eleonor walks to the balcony door and slides it open, allowing a cooling breeze to blow her blond hair and dry the small drops of sweat that's dripping down inside of her dress. She walks to the edge, observing the incredible view before her eyes. The sun is almost touching the ocean at the horizon line, and orange tones blends with the blue of the sky and the sea. Somehow, this moment reminds her of Emily. So, she quickly reaches for the phone in her purse and dials her sister's number, and this time it doesn't take long for her to answer
Giovanni is sitting in the passenger seat, looking at the apparently precarious building where the meeting will take place. Marco complains, but Giovanni still decides to go alone. Mexican territory isn't a hostile one, but the Cartel's intentions are still uncertain. He wants the caporegime to stay at the resort, to make sure his wife is safe.Giovanni gets out of the car and looks at the old facade that says PACO DEL SUR. Through the frosted glass, he sees some wooden tables and chairs and a big bar in the background. Several people are inside, wearing simple and colorful clothing. The place, which is located on the outskirts of Cancun, contrasts with the elegance of the resort he had been in a few hours ago. It's certainly not a place that would draw attention.Giovanni feels everyone's gaze on his body as he enters the establishment, spiking him as if it might cross him. Despite this, his steps continue towards the bar counter steadily. He puts his arm on the counter and says to t
Eleonor wakes up because the bedroom door was opened suddenly, and she reaches for the lamp. When the small light comes on, she sees a silhouette leaning against the wall. Her heart races, and an intense anxiety dwells in her chest. Her mouth suddenly dries up, as she's afraid to call his name. She knows who it is. And she would know even if she were blindfolded. Because her body somehow can feel him from a distance. Because her heart seems to beat in consonance with his. And she hates that. “Giovanni?” She calls out to him when she regains her voice. And she realizes that the silhouette stops amidst the dark. She pushes the blanket away and stands up slowly. With slow steps, she walks to him. Still in the dark, she can feel the way his eyes envelop her… the way her skin warms at the slightest glance. And at this close, she can feel the smell of alcohol intoxicate her nose. She reaches out toward him, rubbing her fingertips against the arm that hangs at the side of his body. Feeling
Eleonor wakes up in the morning, feeling pain all over her body, as if a truck had run her over. Yet, the pain in her heart managed to be even more excruciating. She cried as she had never cried before in the first few hours that followed. As the dawn came, her rational side came out, and she realized that there was no reason to feel so miserable. Doesn't she hate Reviello with all her might? Yes, that's how it should be. She shouldn't feel the loss of her heart by him. It's beyond doubt that he's a heartless man.Even though she has decided that she will pull herself together in the morning and move on with her shards, she doesn't feel like getting out of bed. She feels like her legs are too heavy to back up her body. And her head aches like she's the one who had drank last night and caused chaos in the room and in her mind. She feels pathetic. Seeing the broken objects and the fallen pictures on the floor is a painful reminder that everything that happened last night was real, not j
