Fair game

I watched him come closer, I couldn’t stop my whole body from shaking.

“Who would have guessed I would find you, find you In a place like this? Is the kind of life you betrayed me for?”

I hadn’t uttered a word when he hit me and gave me a slap across my cheek.

“Father.”

How could I be this unlucky?

“Last I checked, you were no longer my child.” He said, his irritation evident in his voice.

“She’s your child?” Madam asked him in a hushed tone. “I’m sorry for the mistake.”

“She’s no longer my child. I don’t think she ever was either. She’s fair game, she’ll be sold tonight.”

“How about an auction? I’m sure many would want her.” The madam said carefully.

“Rayna? Rayna is worthless. Put a price tag on her and get her out of my sight.” My father said coldly.

There was nothing blue about his blood. It was all black.
