Chapter 30: Rest Easy

The jeers and cheers of nonchalance gradually became the reigning mood over the bar. Even as early as eight in the morning it was packed with people who were either moody from being on the receiving of a one-night stand, or joyous after orchestrating the one-night stand themselves. You had to be in either one of those categories.

However, there seemed one man that wasn’t in the lot. At least, he didn’t look or seem like it at first glance. Tattered face cap on his head, and no drinks on his table. He just sat aloof, seemingly talking to himself, while nervously tapping the table with his hands, a ring on each of them.

“Breaking news for the fourth consecutive week, the highway bandits strike once more. This time in the neighboring city of Phoenix. Leaving each of us with a single question. What city will be next? But even more important, will it be ours?” the television set said, echoing into the background.
