16-A Fleeting Chance

The door behind Mia closes with a loud bang.

The house pitch dark. The only light Mia can see comes in from the neighbor's empty kitchen.

Richard pulls Mia into his arms with a rough move, twisting her arm behind her back. His burning hands on Mia’s back make her heart pounding fast. She can feel his hand feeling her up in the darkness. It moves up hastily until it catches Mia’s jaw, and then its owner’s wet breath spouts into Mia’s ear:

“You are scared, little thing.”

Scared? Mia is not shaking much now, just still a bit faint.

In her head Daisy has been roaring: “This is it! I’m going to puke! Put this damn trash down, now!”

Now it is then.

Mia turns slightly to dodge the wet lips by the root of her ear. With this move she reaches under her skirt and pulls the syringe out.

The left side of one’s neck is the best target because it’s close to the heart and helps spread the poison.

When she imagined this moment in her head, she is the skilled agent who would put the target down
