Chapter 35: Did I Miscalculate Something?

AS AFTERNOON came by, August came onto the other side of the garden where Maxine scheduled his next training.

He was a little bit early because he didn’t have anything to do. After a few minutes, the area was filled with multiple men in suits, following Maxine who immediately went onto his direction and bowed her head as a sign of greeting.

The purpose of his training was mainly physical— enhancing his senses, strength, and agility.

Maxine would train him how to fight using his fists, self-defense, how to use a weapon on his choice, and more other things that he didn’t have any idea what it was all about.

“Are they complete?” August asked as he turned his head on Maxine. “No one’s absent?”

“Yes, young master,” Maxine responded, slightly nodding. “They are the bodyguards of the afternoon shift— the new ones.”

‘Hassle,’ August thought, his forehead creased. ‘Why do they need to switch their shifts staring today? It’ll make it harder for me to find the attacker.’
