FORTY FIVE
ELENA’s POV
Father used to say that when change happens, you can feel it in the wind. It is as if the breeze itself carries a message along with it as it glides through the air and caresses your skin, whispering secrets into your ear. I used to laugh at that. I used to tease father about his overly imaginative mind. But now I know it to be true. Something has changed.
Hunter has changed.
I sense it the moment I set foot in the packhouse. The air is thicker, the place is quieter and Hunter, he does not meet my eyes.
Helios doesn’t seem to notice it though, the man practically prances into the foyer and gives Hunter the biggest bear hug ever.
“Alpha! The Witch gave us a gift! It’s a crystallized leaf that we can use to track Clyde down!” Helios chirps happily away oblivious to the fact that I am trying to catch Hunter’s eyes but failing miserably.
Hunter gives Helios a curt nod and pat

FREYA’s POV Our bodies are covered in sweat as I lay on Clyde’s chest, listening to the sound of his beating heart. HUNTER’s POV All is quiet in the car as Helios drives south on the coastal highway. Conner and a few others trail us from behind in another car.
