Chapter 18

Sarah was woken up by a persistent sunray that tickled her eyes in the most unnerving way. She tried to ignore it by turning to the other side while coming to her senses, but the memory of what she heard from Luke last night made it impossible for her to go back to sleep. That and the slight rocking of the boat she felt made her unwillingly open her eyes and sit up in bed.

Luke wasn’t there beside her, and judging by the cold sheets, he was up for some time. Thinking about how he carried her to bed last night, after her cries finally stopped, how he laid her down on the soft bed and found a place for himself right next to her, how he held her throughout the night, offering the best dreamless sleep she ever had and how she held him back, strongly and tightly, promising never to let go… it all made her blush in embarrassment. But she felt so light, like she could fly.
