CHAPTER 29

KRISTINA'S POV

"I just had to do something." Her shoulders dropped slightly as she spoke, seemingly trying to put on a brave façade to cover her fear of what the rest of us could do.

The others must have figured out her story pretty early on since she was acting so defensive, judging from the looks she was receiving from the three men sitting across from us. It mustn't be easy to live in fear, either.

I sighed softly to myself. It was no wonder these humans feared our kind. We were fearsome creatures. I didn't want to scare anyone away, but I hoped she wasn't one of the lucky ones who managed to survive being around us for a little while.

"We understand that it may seem difficult to believe at first," the man replied gently.

"But, in our world, wolves have always been treated as dangerous predators. It's simply the nature of the beast."

"Oh…" Her lips quivered sadly. She sniffled quietly, wiping her eyes. I felt bad for her.

"You should eat, miss. Otherwise you will be in pain.
