I pretend I don’t notice the heavy stares of the children surrounding us.

Helping Yohan lean back against the wall, I lift his shirt up. My heart was no longer hammering against my chest. Oddly, there was some sense of calm within me. He was still breathing, but barely. His face and lips pale and white. My breath hitches as I see the bloody wound by his stomach. Immediately, I bring his shirt down again. My vision blurs, but like everything else for the past few minutes, I’ve ignored it. Sniffing, I angrily tear a bit of cloth from the black cloak that I had covered in my body. Lifting him gently, I tie it around his torso. I tie it as tight as I could to apply pressure. I can’t have him loosing too much blood.
