Chapter 17

Anna

I knew that what had happened yesterday was going to spread. Wendy had created such a commotion the day before that it would have been weird if it didn't spread. As I passed the streets that the restaurant where I worked was, people that were outside stared at me weirdly and that was what I had been trying to avoid.

I pushed the door open and Mr Connor was standing in the restaurant close to the counter. I stopped and took a deep breath before continuing my walk in. I wasn't sure if he had heard anything, but I wasn't going to wait to find out.

I walked past him, looking the other way while he stared at me as I passed, not saying anything at least I wasn't late, so he didn't have much to say.

As I walked into the kitchen, all the conversations that were happening stopped and everyone stared at me. I frowned, knowing what that meant. I sighed as I walked past them to the locker room to drop my bag and then back to my work corner and their eyes watched me as I did.
