Brie POV
When I came around, the overpowering smell of antiseptic was the first thing my mind noticed.
I opened my eyes to be greeted by a white ceiling before my sight wandered to take in the white walls, door, and blanket covering half of my body.
This time, I already had a fairly good idea about where I was.
It was also by this time that I acknowledged the presence of a cannula tube connected to the IV drip and attached to my hand when I got up from bed to sit up.
The door burst open, and in came four young handsome, and tall men I haven’t seen before, but their presence suddenly made me feel safe.
Their presence was enough to make me feel comforted. I did not feel so alone anymore.
“Are you alright?” One of them asked. He had black eyes and brown hair just like me, but my hair color was slightly paler.
It felt awkward when I noticed the four of them looking at me, and all I could do was nod yes in response.
Their faces looked strikingly similar.
“I am Charles Ford.” The same man who asked me about how I was informed.
“I am Rowan.” Inserted another one wearing a gold-framed eyeglass.
Then, he gestured toward the other two behind him. “And these two are Flint and Marcus. We are your brothers.”
Another man came in. He looked different from the four, but he was equally handsome, if not more so. I think he could make the runway models a run for their money.
I nodded at him. I knew him. He was probably the only man in this room I knew because he was the person who got in touch with me to tell me about my brothers' existence.
“Goldstone,” I called out his name.
“You’re crowding my patient.” A woman’s stern voice rang out, and automatically, all our eyes riveted to her.
She looked cute and had almond eyes that crinkled at the corners when she smiled, and her curly hair complemented her face.
“How are you feeling?”
“Fine,” I replied and looked at the glass window with a view of the sky, noticing it was very bright outside.
“How long have I been out?” I asked the doctor.
“Thirty-six hours.” She replied.
“Mr. Goldstone found you sprawled on the pavement. He brought you here and called your brothers. By the way, I am Jenna Ford. I am married to one of your brothers.” She gestured toward the man who introduced himself as Charles.
Again, my eyes went to the four men who bore a striking resemblance to each other.
My eyes started to water.
I remember the last time I talked to Mr. Goldstone. He was the lawyer representing my four brothers. He mediated for a reunion between us five, but I declined.
“What is the point? I already have a family. The Hunters took me when no one else did.” It was my anger talking.
The shock of finding I have four older brothers was too much to process.
For years, I had longed for a family. I was in the orphanage since I was a baby and until I was six before Marsha and Danny Hunter took me in.
Though the couple stopped short of adopting me, they cared for me like I was their real daughter. They were the only family I knew.
Now, Marsha and Danny are gone. And Noah divorced me. I had no one. The bitter thought made me sad.
“Don’t cry. It would be bad for the baby.” Jenna told me.
“She is pregnant?” My four brothers asked in unison, and Jenna had to shush them while I tried very hard to stifle my laugh at the comical look on their faces.
“And what is so shocking about that? She was married.” Jenna told them.
They all gawked at me as if they found the idea of me getting pregnant ridiculous.
My awkwardness was of another level. I was mulling the fact that I was divorced and pregnant. It was not a life I had envisioned for my child.
“Is the baby okay?” Someone asked to break the ice.
My eyes widened in recognition.
“You're Marcus Ford, the model!” I exclaimed.
He nodded, and the knowledge got me excited.
I remembered I had drafted a proposal letter for him a few months ago.
“The Hunters were about to sign you up as our hotel endorser,” I informed him.
My excitement plummeted when I remembered I was no longer part of the Hunters.
All the years I put in working my ass off shot down the drain.
“Not anymore. I already declined the offer yesterday.” He told me.
I noticed the grave voice he used and saw his face hardening. In response, my stomach tightened.
Did he do that for me?
The answer was on his face that it did not shock me anymore when he confirmed.
“I was only there for you."
Deep gratitude filled my heart.
“Thank you,” I said, eyes tearing, knowing I had an ally.
Then, my eyes encompassed the other three. I do not have just one, but four allies.
My chest felt stuffy as I felt a sense of deep longing in my heart for them.
"Even when the world was against you, you have us, Briana," Rowan promised.
I bit my lip.
The guys knew Noah divorced me and was assuring me.
I wonder, what else do they know?
My hand immediately searched my lower abdomen, and a slow smile spread through my face.
‘We are going to be fine.’ I told my child silently.
Brie POVTwo days later, I was discharged from the hospital.I could have left the hospital that day when I met my brothers for the first time, but my brothers insisted I had to stay for another day. When it was time for my hospital release, I was surprised because, outside my room, men in black were standing in attention.“Is there a VIP confined on this floor?” I asked Jenna, who only laughed and commented,“Your brothers are crazy.”Then, she gripped the handrail of my wheelchair to push me out of my room.At the hospital entrance, I was amazed at the number of similar-looking cars parked outside. When they spotted us, the first car moved forward until it stopped in front of me while the others followed close behind.I could not believe my eyes. “S*it! Are you telling me this is for me?” I asked the four men when it finally dawned on me that the cars and the suited men were in their employ.“No one but the best for our little queen.” My brother Marcus said before he lifted his arm
Brie POVI thought I had already tackled my worst nightmare. I thought since Noah had dealt me with a blow, he could never hurt me anymore, but this betrayal was the worst thing he could have done to me.To realize that he devised a seamless plan to get me out of his life for good and made me look like I was the guilty one in our marriage is a low blow.He even placed the death of his parents on my shoulders! No wife who served him faithfully like I did deserves what he did to me.To think that I even shunned all efforts of my brothers to reunite because I thought I already had a family in him.I almost laughed aloud at my naivety. What a shame! What a waste!I loved him! I trusted him!And what did he repay me?Betrayal! My chest felt constricted from the pain. How can Noah do this to me when all I ever did was love him?How can he be this ruthless?I gripped the sides of my seat, trying to control my anger, feeling sweat beading on my forehead. Now, I was thankful that I never men
Brie POVSeven months later.“Jenna. Please call Jenna.” I told my brother, Flint, gasping as I tried to hold back the pain shooting at my stomach. It was the middle of the night, and I was writhing in my bed. “What happened?” Flint asked on the phone, but I could hear the rustling of sheets. He was getting out of bed in a hurry.Footsteps sounded outside my room. The next second, the door was flung open, and my three single brothers came running.“Briana!” Marcus was the first one to reach my bed. He saw my sodden pajama bottoms, and his eyes widened in alarm.“I am going to have the babies,” I told him between pants. They looked horrified as they stared at me.It was Marcus who acted quickly. He grabbed me with the bedsheet and lifted me in his arms. He half ran out of my room while my other brother, Flint, held out the door.Even through my pain, I heard the sound of the engine starting as another pain gripped me.“Hang on, sis! We’re getting you to the hospital.” Marcus inform
Brie POV“Are you sure you don’t want us to notify Hunter about the birth of his children?” Marcus asked.“What is the use of telling him? I don’t think he would be interested.” I said, my voice sounding flat.It was the next morning, and the babies were already delivered to my hospital suite. It was like there was a party in here. My brothers brought balloons, cakes, and party poppers they did not get the chance to pop because Jenna forbade them.I almost laughed at the disappointed look on Rowan’s face. Even with his glasses on, I could tell that Jenna’s orders just spoiled his fun.“Don’t push sis to that j*rk. She already chose us. Don’t let her change her mind about us again.” Flint reminded Marcus.“I am not saying she should get back to him. All I am saying is that Noah Hunter has to know he has fathered three cute little boys.” Marcus said, gesturing to my sons, who were sleeping in their special cot at the hospital.“Do you think he would be interested?” Charles butted in
Brie POVI don’t know how to react to that.To be honest, Hanna’s news did not surprise me.Britney White has always been Noah Hunter’s one and true love.I slowly massaged my chest with my hand when I felt a squeezing pain and sighed.
Brie POVAfter breastfeeding and burping them, Jenna sat with me for a while. We watched the babies while they were asleep.“So, have you thought about the names of the triplets?” She asked.“Yeah. My brothers helped. The five of us agreed on the names.” I informed her. When the hospital administrator came in later, I told him I would name the children Riley, Mason, and Brix. They took Ford as their surname after me. I am now Briana Ford.Gone was Briana Johnson. She was a person of the past and someone I would rather forget. We stayed at the hospital for a few more days before Jenna gave me the clear go.My brothers were all over the babies. They took turns caring for them, leaving their three nannies with nothing to do most of the time.I wanted to call the agency to return the nannies.Rowan insisted that I keep them. He argued that when the children get old
Brie POVFury I had never known before engulfed my being and spread through every part of my body. There are so many things Noah Hunter had to answer me for.The lies he concocted were unforgivable. When I had the triplets, love filled my heart, changing my perspective about getting back at Noah. The triplets were all I ever needed.I do not want to muddle our lives by showing up on Noah’s turf. I was so convinced to keep my distance to keep my peace. But after hearing Goldstone, a different level of anger took hold of my being. Knowing that Noah deliberately kept me in the dark about my inheritance, hate-filled me to the core. What he did was more than cruel.“What do I have to do?” I looked at Goldstone squarely, letting my anger talk for me.We stared at each other. I am sure Goldstone was assessing me and my mettle. Then, he smiled. His lips curled, showing off perfectly white teeth.“Work hard and become the best. Beat Noah Hunter in his own game.”I nodded slowly, letting the
Brie POV“Carlo Bianchi Salon?” I was surprised when I set my flats-clad feet outside the two-story building that would serve as the meeting place for the appointment Charles set for me.At first, I thought I got it wrong.I looked at my phone's gallery, where I took an image of a piece of paper Charles handed me last night to see if I got the address correct, thinking there had to be a mix-up.When double-checking proved I had the correct address, a frown formed slowly on my forehead. Why would my brother send me to a salon? Then, when I was about to turn around and ditch the appointment, the glass doors opened to reveal the face of a thirty-ish man with a flawless face and a buzz cut that enhanced his facial hair.“Ms. Ford, I am Carlo Bianchi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He told me before lifting his hand in my direction. While doing so, I noticed how he ran his eyes over my body as if I was merchandise he was trying to inspect. The perusal was not offending, but it was critic
