CHAPTER 26

He scooped her into his arms and Rowena squealed. Whatever she’d expected it hadn’t been that. Her protests grew louder as Heath headed for the door of the cabin instead of the bed.

“Dammit, Heath! Put me down!”

“Nope!”

“Where are you taking me?”

“To my cabin. We’re not staying here.”

“I’m naked.”

“It’s 2 am. No one’s outsi…”

His voice trailed off and his eyebrows slammed together in a frown. Spinning on his heel, he headed back in the direction they’d just come and deposited her gently to the floor.

“Grab what you need,” Heath said. “We’ll get the rest in the morning.”

She quickly pulled on her negligée, simply because it was on top. He wouldn’t even let her grab some shoes, again insisting on carrying her the few yards to his place. At his cabin, she had a quick look around. One big, open room and a bedroom toward the back. Her focus zeroed in on the large four-poster bed.

Heath didn’t disappoint her because that’s exactly where he headed,
