Mary blinked repeatedly as the rays of sunlight from the open window hit her face, warming her face up causing her to squint as she opened her eyes fully. She realized only then that she had forgotten to close her window before she slept off last night. She wondered why her mom had not woken her up for the usual morning prayers and at the same time she was glad that her sleep was not interrupted. She picked up her phone from the bedside table and scrolled through it, even though she hated Adonis so much for trying to kill her, a part of her still expected to see a text from him. She let out a sigh of relief when there was nothing from him on her phone, and also chided her heart for being stupid. Standing up from the bed she arranged her scattered hair scattered hair which looked like that of a bedraggled masquerade before finding her way out of her room. The moment she stepped out of her room, the sweet aroma of cooking hit her nose. She knew immediately that her mom was at
Mary decided to surprise her parents by making dinner before they get back from work, although she sulked at cooking she still wanted to impress them. She stood in the kitchen, confused on what to prepare. She later settled for toasts, it was the easiest thing she could make at that time, she needed to hurry, her parents would soon be back. Mary sat down in the living room after making dinner, it looked like her parents were takin to long to come back, she decided to sit In the sitting room and get busy with her phone while she awaited their arrival. She used that opportunity to check online for other places where she could work when she eventually quits her job. Mary had fallen asleep on the couch by the time her parents came back from work. "Oh! Poor her" Mrs Wilberforce exclaimed, "she must have been bored to death". "I smell toast" Mr Wilberforce said as he stepped inside. He walked towards his daughter who was lying asleep on the couch, he picked up her phone that wa
Mary tried to wake up as early as she could in order to join the morning prayers. She does not want her parents thinking that she had turned wayward. She rubbed her sleepy eyes lightly and looked herself in the mirror, as usual she looked a mess with her hair scattered all over her face. She gradually swept it backwards with her fingers and packed it into a clean ponytail. By the time she got to the sitting room, her both parents were already awake and sitted. "See who has come to join us" Mr Wilberforce announced excitedly on seeing his daughter. "Good morning dad, good morning mom" she bent down to kiss each one of them on the chin. Mr Wilberforce said the prayers today, and it was relatively a long one like always. As a kid Mary always hated when her dad would lead the prayers because it always took lots and lots of time, it was as if he was praying for the whole country. Mary sighed when the prayer was finally over, she went back to her room, hoping to catch some mor
Mary raised her head so she could meet Taylor's gaze. "Well I do not have a choice in this situation" she said with a low voice, she tried hard to fight the tears that were threatening to rush out of her eyes if she kept being emotional. "I'm so going to miss you" Taylor cried out, putting her arms around her and embracing her tightly. "I'm going to miss you too". She said rubbing Taylor's back lightly. "I should go see Mr Greg now" she said as she pulled away from the hug. Mary asked if Mr Coleman was still in close contact with Adonis and Taylor affirmed to that, she had heard him on call with Adonis a few times. But Taylor felt there was something fishy about it since he was trying to keep it hidden. Mary thought about it for sometime and wondered what it could be that Mr Coleman and Adonis had with each other. They waved at each other before Mary walked away, to her bosses office. Mary knocked slowly on Mr Greg's office before she pushed it open and walked in. He w
"You mean you have been forgiven? And you cans still work here?" Taylor asked excitedly with her eyes wide open. "Yes" Mary nodded happily. The both embraced each other tightly. "I'm finally going to have my roommate back" Taylor said. "Are you girls not going to include me in the hug" Chris chipped in from behind. "Or do I not deserve to celebrate with you?" "Come on" Mary said stretching out her arms towards him. "You are lucky today is Mary's lucky day, I would have showed you". Taylor said to Chris after they disengaged from the hug. Chris rolled his eyes at her in his typical feminine manner. "So you both are yet to out grow throwing tantrums at each other" Mary said laughing. "Well you should be talking to Taylor, she would just not let me be, I think she is jealous". "Jealous of who? You?" Taylor made a face. "I rather kiss a frog than get jealous of you Chris". "Then I would go find you a handsome frog to kiss, meanwhile I have to go continue my work. And c
"Of course not" Mary said in hurry. "I do not have boyfriend mom" she said shyly. "It seemed like you were so passionate with whoever you were talking to on the phone" her mom said jokingly. Mary wondered how much her mum heard, she wanted to aske her, but it would raise suspicions. So she just let it be. The food was almost done by the time they both went back to the kitchen, Mary and her mom set the table together. Her mom teased her some more about having a boyfriend which as responded to shyly. By the time Mr Wilberforce came back from work, the table was already set. "Dad" Mary greeted kissing her dad's chin. "I smell something delicious". He said sniffing the air. "Guess what dad, we are having Mac and cheese for dinner". "Wow!" He exclaimed. "My mouth feels watery already" he joked. They both laughed as they walked inside holding hands. "I would just drop these and come back for dinner, I can't wait to pounce on this delicious meal" he said jokingly.
Mary stopped in her tracks, with eyes wide open as he turned around to face her, she stood dumbfounded as those familiar blue eyes stared into hers getting her stuck where she stood. Her heart skipped several beats as she looked at him, her first instinct was to run into the kitchen where her mom was making breakfast and run into her arms where she would be safe from the monster that now stood in front of her. "Hi. Mary, long time no see" he said with a smile. Mary was calm a bit, his voice sounded friendly and not the cold murderous voice she was expecting to here. But what if he was being sarcastic? "What are you doing at my house? And how did you know my house?" She queried. Should she even be surprised that he knew her house? She was fully convinced then, since she had more reasons to believe he actually sent her threats the last time, he knew her house that was why he was able to send her threats. "Won't you even welcome me? Do you not miss me?" Mary thought she saw
"Oh! She mentioned to me once that she went to Tribeca for some work" Mrs Wilberforce said. "Mary you didn't tell your dad and I that you are working with Adonis Scott" she asked turning to Mary. "Oh! She might have forgotten to add that too". Mary bit her lips so hard that she started to feel the pains, she wished so badly that she could shut both Adonis and her parents up. Thankfully, they stopped talking about her for a bit. Adonis faced her dad and they started talking about business. "Thank you so much for inviting me to have breakfast with you" Adonis announced as they finished eating. "We are actually very hospitable people" Mrs Wilberforce said with a smile. "I would leave you and your friend to talk then" she said as she packed the dishes to the kitchen to wash them. "Mary, won't you come with me? Emma needs you so much at this time". Adonis said as soon as her parents were out of sight. Mary kept staring at him, he sure was a good pretender, his acting looked
