HEART TO HEART
"Sto-stop! It hurts!"
June held on Samuel's wrist stopping him from applying the cotton dipped in antiseptic.
Samuel frowned, "You have wound all over your face, it will get infected if we don't clean it up."
"I need to say something!" June said.
Samuel lowered his hand with raised eyebrows.
"What?"
"I need to move out."
The words felt like harsh slaps from reality. Samuel watched June as he gave excuses.
"I have been living off you for more than a year, and I have a good amount of savings too. I—"
"No don't go," Samuel cut in.
June stopped talking and blinked.
"What?" June laughed, "I—"
June stopped talking and looked at Samuel. He slowly realised, they were leaning towards each
REST ASSURE Samuel frowned when he had to press the password to get in the condo. He open the front door of their condo. To his surprise the condo was still dark. The lights turned on at the sound of Samuel's footsteps. Samuel remembered Lion was spending a night at the vet's. "June?" He called and looked around but he saw no sign of June. There wasn't his jacket on the couch or his shoes clumsily thrown on the doormat. A chill went down his spine as Samuel dropped the groceries and pulled out his phone. He dialed James' number. "Hello?" "James? Is June with you?" Samuel worriedly asked. "No," James sounded confused, "His shift ends early today so he left early."
WARRHOUSE MISHAP "This is the warehouse!" Samuel exclaimed and got out of the car. "Sam, wait!" James called, he turned back to look at Tina who was already loading a gun. "Why do you have that?" James asked. "Just go after, him!" she hissed. James quickly noddes and got out of the car. "Sam!" James jogged towards Samuel who was already inside the warehouse. "They are not here!" Samuel said with gritted teeth his frustration getting the better of him. The warehouse was empty expect for some chains tangled in a pile around the pole and a dark phone in front of it. Tina walked into he warehouse and picked up the phone. Samuel was still looking around. His loud heartbeats were all he would hear, blood pounded in his ears as he looked around. Hoping to find June with every corner he searched. "They are leaving for New York!" Tina shou
OLD MISSION [Host, welcome back to the Space. Do you want to go back to any mission you had failed before?] June thought about all the missions he had failed. He was still new to the system and as a rookie employee he had made lots of mistakes. However, there was one particular mission he had choose to fail willingly. He didn’t regret failing the mission. He had choose to fail it but it somehow left a bitter taste in his mouth as he left the world. June took in a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. He knew the supporting actor of that world did not deserve such an ending. And he wanted to see those dark eyes again. “I would like to go back to Ian Wang's mission.” [Yes, host. Collecting data of mission 4337.] [Data collected. Host, w
REJECTIONIt was a free period and like an ideal student, June Weng was using his time wisely.By staring at his sleeping seat partner– Ian Wang.It only felt like yesterday when June said to Venus he wanted to quit the mission so his death wouldn’t sadden Ian, when they fall in love. The mission was too cruel for him since Ian was the same age as him before June was bound to the system.June had always wondered why Ian looked so lonely. When June had went to Love Crop with an apology letter for failing this mission, he had checked up the soulmate list and saw that Ian and the original owner of the body were soulmates. After that he always wondered if he did the right thing by calling off the mission. He was still unsure about coming back to the mission but somehow guilt bit him when h
A CHOICE HE DIDN'T MAKE"He is mute!" Ian heard someone whisper loud enough for him to hear.A five year old Ian tighten his lips and continued playing with the Lego set."Oh! That's why he didn't talk to me no matter how much I called him!" A voice gasped."You better stay away from him!" Ian heard the chubby boy who always takes away his share of evening snacks warn, "If you stay with him, you will become mute like him!"Some girls gasped.Ian rolled my eyes.He don't know much but Ian remembered his mom had told him that a person's muteness can't be passed on one person to another.Plot twist, Ian is not mute.Ian just didn’t like talking with anyone. The kids in his kindergarten were loud and noisy and cry over small things. They were really stupid too.&nbs
NOTHING ALIKEIan flopped down on the couch and let out a sigh.Suddenly, the tapping on the laptop stopped."Hey, Ian?" He heard his sister's disembodied voice called."What?" He muttered, without looking at her."Is something bothering you?"Euphel asked, "I have never heard you sigh.""Just a long day," he muttered, and slowly got up from the couch wanting to get fresh and eat something."Well, okay but are you sure there is nothing wrong?" Euphel pressed again.Ian paused and looked back at her. Euphel was sitting on a armchair in her most ratty pj's with her laptop. His sister is a senior in college but she was on a gap year right now, so she is back home. He scowled at the empty chips wrappers surrounding her and looked at her
The next day when Ian walked inside the classroom, he noticed that his seat partner had not arrived yet. He frowned. Is he on leave again?Ian actually had no interest in other people's life, but he couldn't understand why June would take so many days off. They were in twelve grade and it is a very important year for them, after all they will be taking their board examination which will determine the college they can go to but from the way June skips classes, Ian wasn't sure if he will be able to learn anything in class and get a good result.Ian settled on his seat and eyed the part of his table and looked up at the teacher's table. The class monitor was arranging some books.Ian pressed his lips in a thin line, his hands were suddenly clammy at the sudden thought he had.Should he ask what is wrong with his seat partner? It's not the fi
DEAL It was been two days. Two days of quite and peace. There wasn't anyone who loudly greeted Ian and nagged him almost every time to be their friend. Ian felt peace. "Why are you smiling so much?" his mom asked as she turned off the car engines. Ian quickly fixed his lips and cleared his throat, "I am not smiling." "Yes, you are not," his mom muttered. "Bye mom," he said then opened the door and got out of the car. He walked behind the school bus to feed Cookie as usual. However, when he reached the corner of the bus, he froze. June Weng was playing happily with Cookie. "What are you doing here?" Ian hissed.
