“I already told you I do not know where he is,” I resisted the urge to scream at the head of security whose eyes were scrutinizing me like a common criminal. If he’d done his job well, I wouldn’t need to answer these questions, and if my mate had the slightest bit of trust in me, then I shouldn’t be reduced to this.

“So how did you manage to break him out of the cell?” he asked for the umpteenth time. I rolled my eyes, my fingers curling into fists, and my teeth biting my tongue to prevent me from saying something I would eventually regret. This man, named Gavin, is pretty stupid to be the head of security in Dark Wolf.

“Are you deaf-“ My words stuck in my throat when I hear the lock turn, and I resist the urge to back into a corner when Slade walks in. He’s wearing a deep frown, his hair in disarray all over his face, but what broke my heart was the fact that his eyes didn’t meet mine.
