Chapter 44

Nora's POV

I'm standing at the top of the stairs. I can see people coming out of Ken's workspace with pale faces and limp bodies. I don't know them; I'm guessing they are people who have positions in this pack.

Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to enter Ken's workspace, which was guarded twenty-four hours a day by four warriors with large bodies and frightening faces.

I, who go to Ken's workplace every day, shudder whenever I see them.

"Keep going; you can do it." Beta's voice is audible to me. Beta is always encouraging to the warriors.

One day had passed since this pack was attacked, and I didn't get any news. This morning, I had breakfast with Ken, but Ken, as usual, didn't say anything. Ken only helped cut my meat. I refrained from asking because I knew Ken must have a lot on his mind right now.

Even though Ken had a headache because of his pack problem, he kept his promise to exercise with me every morning. This morning we went around the pack by riding a bicycle.
