I did a little happy dance as I returned to the pack house, pleased at the progress I’d been making with amping my stamina, thanks to Black.

I couldn't admit it to Soph, but he was an even better trainer than she was, and I imagined it had something to do with the fact that he'd been a rogue his entire life— so he said.

The whole thing started on the second day after our return. Black came up to me and said he was a little uncomfortable that I let him stay in the territory, and he wasn't doing anything for me in return. I told him it was simply payment for accompanying me back home, and he didn't have to do anything, but he insisted on doing something for me. I had nothing better to do with my time anyway, so I let him talk me into training to get a better grip on my stamina.

On our way back from the field, whispers and murmurings about Kane’s return were all I heard.
