RUNNING AWAY

RUNNING AWAY

 Zara’s pov

I turned to see Seth, my brother's Beta, standing in front of me. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked.

Ignoring him, I transformed into my wolf form. Despite being small due to being mistreated for a long time, I knew it would give me a better chance at escape. My brother, the Alpha, was much larger and stronger than me, but in my wolf form, I stood a chance of getting away from the place I called home, which was nothing more than a hellhole to me.

Seth tried to stop me, but I managed to dodge past him and run out of the community gates. It was starting to snow, and I knew the woods were dangerous, but I didn't care. I would rather face the unknown dangers of the forest than stay in the pack and be my brother's slave. My paws pounded against the ground as I ran as fast as I could, my heart racing with fear and determination.

I could hear the sound of something large and heavy panting behind me, and I knew it was my brother and his beta. My brother's voice appeared in my mind, telling me to stop or he would kill me if he caught up to me. But I didn't listen. I couldn't go back. I had to keep running, no matter what.

"Zara, come back here!" he yelled. "I promise to be kinder to you if you just stop running."

But I continued to run, with my brother chasing me and shouting insults at me. "I'll kill you when I catch you," he threatened.

I was terrified, but my wolf sienna urged me on and prevented my brother from accessing my mind. So I kept running, trying to escape my brother's wrath.

I was running for my life, my feet pounding against the snow-covered ground as I raced deeper into the woods. The snow was coming down heavily and a thick fog was settling around me, making it difficult to see. Despite the poor visibility, I kept moving forward, fueled by a sense of desperation. It wasn't until I stopped to catch my breath that I realized I no longer heard my brother behind me. Panic set in as I realized I had entered into a different werewolf territory.

The woods were eerily quiet, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. The mist started to lift, and I could hear the sound of snapping twigs as if someone or something was approaching.

As I turned to face the source of the noise, I was confronted by three enormous wolves. The one in the middle was the largest of the three, it's head larger than my entire body. I knew instantly that it was the alpha of the pack, its piercing red eyes seemed to look straight into my soul.

As the wolves approached, my mind was racing with a multitude of thoughts. I couldn't help but fear for my life, knowing that I was no match for these larger wolves. My heart pounded in my chest as I took a step back for every step they took toward me.

I couldn't bear the thought of dying at the hands of my own brother, but the alternative seemed just as grim. The bigger wolf continued to approach, and I found myself pressed against a tree with nowhere to go. I was terrified, but I couldn't bring myself to run. These wolves were larger than any I had ever seen, and I knew I didn't stand a chance against them.

As the big wolf stood in front of me, I lowered my head in submission, bracing myself for the end. I couldn't shake the feeling that my life had been filled with cruelty by my own family, and I had never been given a chance in the family I was born into. All I could do was wait for the wolf to strike and end my suffering.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. "What is he doing?" I asked myself, trying to make sense of the situation. I reached out with my mind to Sienna, hoping to get some insight from my wolf, but she remained silent.

I lifted my head and was surprised to see that the wolf had transformed into a human, standing naked before me. In the wolf world, nudity wasn't a big deal, but I still felt self-conscious looking at him. All I wanted was for him to end my life quickly and painlessly, but instead of attacking me, he began stroking my fur gently. His hands felt good against my body, and I found myself relaxing under his touch.

But I couldn't allow myself to get too comfortable. I knew this couldn't be real, that he was probably just trying to lull me into a false sense of security before finally killing me. I had to snap out of it and stay alert.

As I tried to pull away from him, he held me close and whispered soothing words. "Don't be afraid, my name is Drake, Alpha of the Blackwood pack. You're safe here in my territory."

Despite his reassurances, I couldn't shake the fear that he was just pretending to be kind before he ultimately killed me. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the end, hoping it would come quickly.

But instead of attacking, he continued to gently stroke my fur and repeat his promise that he wouldn't hurt me. I have never known a wolf, especially rogue wolf that trespassed another territory and were kept alive. Despite my doubts, I found myself feeling a little bit comforted by his presence.

"Who are you and why are you here?" Alpha Drake demanded.

I hesitated, unsure of how to explain my situation. I had gone rogue, abandoning my former identity and any sense of belonging. The realization of what I had done and the rapid changes that had occurred in just a few minutes - from being my brother's slave to a rogue - hit me hard.

"I need you to transform into a human form now," Alpha Drake said, his tone conveying a mix of demand and request. I had no choice but to comply, though I couldn't tell if he intended to kill me in my human form or not.

As I shifted back into my human form, I collapsed onto the ground, too weak to stand. Alpha Drake's expression contorted with disgust as he looked at my naked body, and I couldn't help but feel self-conscious. The years of starvation and neglect were evident in my appearance, and I wondered if Alpha Drake thought I was even worth killing.

As he rose to his feet, I couldn't help but feel a jolt of fear. I didn't know if he was going to kill me or just leave me there to die. But then, he did something that surprised me even more - he picked me up and started carrying me away, with the two other wolves following behind.

I was too weak to ask any questions or try to understand what was happening to me. All I could do was lay there in his arms, trying to hold on.

"What is your name, little one?" he asked, his voice gentle and concerned.

I tried to speak, but my mouth wouldn't form the words. I felt myself growing limper and limper until finally, everything went black. As I drifted off into unconsciousness, the only thought in my mind was: This must be heaven.
