Chapter 28 - Something Is Different

Lance POV

As if something is pulling me here, I slide into Trinity’s hospital room, making sure to not make a sound. It has become my nightly ritual, and one I can’t seem to break no matter how hard I try. I had kept myself buried in work all day today, but as the sky turned dark and the night settled in, I found myself making the same the trek as I have the previous nights.

Once I’m inside the room, my wolf jumps forward and softly howls and whines while he wags his tail faster than he ever has before. Something is different.

A faint scent tickles my nose, but I can’t place what it is. Every fiber in my body wants more of it.

I take a deep breath and almost hum in delight.

I need to know where this is coming from. This alluring scent, even though it is faint, can’t tease me and then vanish. I must find the source.

Heat rushes through me.

My gaze drifts to the sleeping beauty in the bed. I need to do what I came here to do first before I go around hunting for the source
