I stayed with Jenna until she fell asleep.

I wish I could say it was because she seemed broken, and needed the support. But I just wanted to be with her.

I’d forgotten what it was like to have her around. To have her in my arms.

And God, I’m a father.

An actual father with real kids.

I didn’t know how to feel about that. To be honest, I don’t think it has already sunk in yet.

I’ll need a drink, or five to fully understand that news.

Not only do I have a kid—kids, three of them—they were kidnapped. We have no clue who they might be or what they want exactly.

Jenna explained everything to me. They hadn’t called, which led them to believe it wasn't money they wanted.

I wanted to ask how she was. What she has been doing. But things were already complicated between us. We had too much to talk about and not nearly enough time.
