I woke up with a start, my heart racing as if I had just run a marathon. Beads of sweat dotted my forehead and my chest heaved with each breath. The remnants of the nightmare clung to my mind, haunting me like a lingering ghost. It had felt so real, so vivid that I struggled to shake off the feeling of dread that had settled over me.
