Chapter 73

Everything seemed to be thrashing out of control around Christian. The ache in his chest grew, stabbing repeatedly like a hot knife as it sliced through. He couldn't stand straight; he bent over, placing his hands on his knees. He refused to move from the theater door, his security guards standing outside with him.

"How's she?" He heard Sean's voice from afar, then a pair of hands on his shoulders.

"Excuse us." Sean dismissed the two tall men dressed in black suits. The mini-OR was located on the ground floor of the hospital, isolated at a corner with minimal traffic.

"It's my fault." Christian mumbled, sniffing, when the men left.

"You can't blame yourself man; it's not your doing." He tried convincing him, but Christian was having none of it. His throat and nose were clogged, passing little to no air.
