"I'm glad you called; we'd have driven straight to the hospital after work." Sean hugged Isabelle in the backyard. She had decided to enjoy a bowl of strawberries while Christian held a meeting online in his office.

"Imagine the pain of finding out that you're not there." Dion faked a sob as he hugged Isabelle too, his arms lingering comfortingly on her back.

"Quit whining; at least I told you." They plopped down beside her on the bench, enjoying the sunset. Minutes after sitting down, Isabelle's phone rang. She was tempted to let it go to voicemail but decided against it when she realized it was Russell calling.

"Your mother failed the poligraph test; she didn't get some questions right." She almost rolled her eyes, bored with being told information she already had an inkling about.

"I know. I talked to my father, and he told me she knew about his uncle—that they worked for him." Isabelle nonchalantly replied, even though deep down her chest was becoming heavy.
