Chapter 107: The Unending Battle

I slash another guard by the throat and he falls down on the floor with a horrified expression. He looks shocked that I killed him, he didn’t see it coming. I stare at his body for a few seconds and if I wasn’t desperate to find my wife, I would be laughing at his face.

When Jacob came to me and said he wanted to fight by my side, I pictured him on a horse killing men not staying in a chariot ten miles from the war front and waiting for reports every two hours. I didn’t expect too much so I’m not exactly disappointed, in fact I’m grateful. I didn’t realise how much I needed help until I was offered it.

“Look out!” my right hand man yells and I turn back to see an arrow flying towards me. I throw myself out of the way and make sure that I end the life of the person that shot the arrow.
