Layla’s POV

Back in the bedroom, as I got ready for the surprise Ethan to cheer me up, a cheeky smile played on my lips.

I stared at the mirror with satisfaction, I could pass for the best actress of the year, that was spot on! It couldn’t have gone any better than that, but there was something that bothered me and that was the constant look that had been on Lowell’s face. It was the exact look someone gave you when they suspected something was off or they already knew what it was.

Why was he making such a huge fuss over Sally’s death? She was just a bloody maid after all, what difference did it make if she was dead or not? Another maid could just replace her here, there were hundreds available after all.
