This caused Evelyn to squint her eyes at Lydia. She didn't know what was actually going on, but she could see that Lydia was being serious as she spoke.

Lydia didn't mind the look at all, Carson had given her almost the same look after the kiss. One of in-between pity and confusion.

Evelyn squinted at her and somehow understood Lydia's plight. She had always ended up heartbroken.

“Is he treating you badly?” Evelyn asked with a low tone, a tone that could soothe anyone.

Lydia smiled, recalling how good Carson was.

“He's more like an angel”

Hearing that, Evelyn pushed Lydia with her shoulder. Lydia loved her bubbly personality.

“I don't see a problem, darling, since you've shared this little secret with me. To seal our friendship, let's have a toast.”

She picked up the glass of her orange juice and raised it.

“Don't you want to be friends with me?” Evelyn pouted her lips.

“Friends” Lydia quickly picked off her glass and clinked it with Evelyn's.
