Chapter 14

It suddenly occurred to me that when pushed to their limits, people can unleash incredible potential. Despite experiencing the loss of my parents and child, I had never cried as intensely as I did in that moment. Max paused, his sharp eyes scanning my face, searching for any hint of genuine heartbreak. His brow furrowed, lips pursed, as if on the verge of speaking. Without giving him a chance to respond, I poured out my grievances, tears streaming down my face.

"Max, what did I do to deserve this treatment from you? Didn't you promise to cherish and love me for a lifetime? All those vows you made, were they all lies? It's only been a year since we got married, Max. And yet, you're cheating on me, seeing another woman... What have I done to deserve this?"

As I spoke, I grabbed the printed and signed divorce agreement from the bedside table and thrust it at him.
